LiquidOxygen80: 1's biggest flaw was the time limit. I'd have way more hours spent with it if it wasn't for that one factor, because I really enjoyed the feeling of really venturing out into this huge scary unknown wasteland, then ultimately being told that you'll never really have the time to explore every nook and cranny, except via multiple playthroughs. Even with the water merchant deals, you still have that to contend with, and it really hangs an air of disappointment over every playthrough I've had with it recently. I still very much enjoy it, and I REALLY enjoy its soundtrack, its villains, its factions, and the fact that unlike Bethesda's iterations, has super mutants that are very much in full control of their faculties, are confident in their own superiority, highly intelligent and well designed.
The initial time limit is more than enough to get the water chip, specially with the extra 100 days from the water caravans. After that, the super mutant time limit is extremely forgiving (and I think one of the official patches for the game increased it more). The first time I beat it some years ago I was kinda intimidated by the time limit too, but after getting the water chip back you just don't care about it anymore.
First look during the MS conference.

Actually looks like a full fledged title. Prequel, supposedly 4x as big as the previous titles (pretty sure he means map size). 'You must rebuild', looks like it's going to be about reclaiming the land indeed.

I would read more into that, if I were you.

First, did you notice how every scene was with multiple "protagonist view" characters? That's an ungentle way to say it'll be relentlessly multiplayer. You see the one with the Vault 76 suit, and otherwise unequipped, coming upon that scuffed-up T-51b suit and putting it on, which pretty clearly indicates that, like Fallout4 (which was the weakest of weak sauce, story-wise) it's going to be super-sandboxy and hand you all the things right from the get-go. Not much hope for meaningful progression when they give you the best toys right away. It means there's not much room to grow.

And while the visuals were lovely, everything was big (the super combine, the collapsed ruins) which probably means it's going to be a bunch of setpieces tied together in a mostly empty world map (more like F4 than F3/F:NV). If that's true, then we can certainly count on a lot more Radiant quests - again, like F4 trying to stretch out the content - than story ones.

Nah, it's not nearly enough to be hopeful, not yet. But we'll see more soon. This is another time when I would *love* to be wrong on all counts. Here's hoping we find out soon that I am.
Did they skip all these number till 76?

Just in case are serious - 1776 was US independence, 2076 was the date of the war in Fallout current lore, the vault involved with current game is Vault 76. It's just some referential repetition.

Don't forget 1976.

The year bad taste won it's independence.
Welp, looks like I'll be one of the few here playing it. It's going to be *completely* online
An online Bethesda game well that's something but i will stay far away from it and from what i saw there's nothing especially noteworthy about it and since it going to be online i hope Bethesda get the game right from the start this time and release a decent game.

I do hope if it's succesful that Bethesda doesn't learn anything from it and make their future titles online and possible cut out modding support.
The news page from Bethesda:

https://bethesda.net/en/article/2G2vLPyPwcMaiGASUwsoqQ/fallout-76-official-reveal-e3-2018

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9FGaan35s0

Haven't seen the presentation, anyone knows where it can be found?

Completely online. Tweakers.net says in their news article there will be 'single-player possibilities' but if those possibilities don't include a full fledged single-player story without any other players popping in, I won't buy it.

Not that I mind, I own FO 1, 2, tactics, 3, New Vegas and 4 and have only played FO3 yet. I've yet to play the rest and find out what's my own opinion on 'rate the Fallout games from best to worst'. My sample is N=1 so far, I can make it N=6 without going online.

Found an easier view, just Bethesda's presentation (easier scrollable): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FV63b6empgM

What strikes me (in a negative way), is that the atmosphere of the game is much more cheerful than the Fallout 3 that I know: the landscape is sunnier, the trees more colourful, the whole mood of 'let's get out of the Vault, recolonize the world and make Virginia great again', the uptempo music. And this is supposed to be a prequel to the other games, closer to the nuclear apocalypse therefore than Fallout 3 which takes place in the 2200's if I remember well. Actually, Fallout 3 looked too bleak, two centuries after a nuclear holocaust nature will be flourishing more than what can be seen in the Capitol Wasteland (look what happened in Chernobyl: nature does even better with nuclear fallout but without humans interfering than with humans around). Fallout 76 should show a bleaker world than Fallout 3, not the other way around! It doesn't give one the same feeling of dread and bleakness as a Fallout game should. The mood in the presentation of the game is far too triumphant for my liking.

Given that one of the mechanics is based on tossing nuclear missiles at eachother I'm personally assuming we're still contributing to messing up the planet in that era.

Any info on forced PvP? If PvP is optional, this game is totally for me. If not, then I have to carefully consider whether or not I'll get this one.

All in all, sounds like a perfect game for me since I absolutely love crafting, base building and the Fallout setting :D

Nothing beyond 'You can absolutely play it solo' I think. But there's a sea of possible differences in that definition still. If that just means I can go solo, have a tougher time, and still get griefed by anyone that feels like doing so then I'm going to be disappointed :(
Online only. Not here, another bites the dust.
