A winner has been chosen!

--------------

The year 2014 is coming to an end and here on GOG it was yet again full of giveaways. And while at times you do hear complaints that there are just too many of them, most would agree that GAs are a great feature of this community.

So, if you are one of those people who love giveaways, here is your chance to take part in yet another one, and vote for the best giveaway of 2014.

Was there a giveaway that really impressed you? Perhaps it had a very interesting discussion topic, or an original fun way of selecting the winner, or maybe it was simply the sheer generosity of the host? If so, then go ahead and nominate the giveaway here.

Rules:

_Anyone is free to enter. No rep or join date requirements, but known scammers/cheaters/trolls will be disqualified.

_To enter say you're in, and nominate a giveaway that was hosted here in 2014. You may nominate up to 3 giveaways. While you can just list the giveaways, it would be nice if you write a few words on why you liked them. If possible provide links.

_I will randomly select a nominating post. The author of that post will get a 5.99$ GOG game that he or she chooses. The host of the nominated giveaway will get a 9.99$ GOG game. If the post nominates more than one giveaway, that will be chosen randomly.

_The game for the nominator is for personal use only. No trading/re-gifting. The winning host on the other hand is free to do with the game what they please. Should they elect not to take the game, another host will be chosen.

Updated rule:
_You may nominate giveaway(s) without being in yourself for the 5.99$ game. Just mention so in your post. In this case if your post wins, the host you nominated will still get the 9.99$ prize, and I'll chose another nominator for the 5.99$ prize.

Giveaway will end sometime early next year. I'd say around the 7th of Jan but I'll end it sooner if there won't be much interest or conversely will let it run longer if there would be still new nominations coming.

Once the giveaway is over, I'd ask the winning nominator to please claim the gaim within 48 hours, otherwise I'll chose someone else at random. I'll give the winning host a bit more leeway, especially since they might no longer be as active on the forums, but should I get no response for some time despite my efforts to contact them, a different host will be chosen.

I must nominate real.geizterfahr's "100" giveaway - 100 days' worth of GOG games at one a day. An epic selection. I didn't manage to win anything in there - I didn't enter that often either - but I was a constant spectator, just watching that relentless set of games wander through the months. (Oh: I'm in, and thanks. This is a great idea.)

Awesome idea! Thanks for doing this :-)
This giveaway definetly is one of those special in my eyes, because of the main idea. I love it! Thank you. I am in.

I haven't been long in the forum yet, so my choices are from the last ~few months. These giveaways are the ones that cought my eye as somewhat extraordinary, somehow different...

- The latest TBBBBOB! Thanks to Sachys and foxworks. I like so many things about it... The name - I still couldn't tell from memory, what each B means but I do know that a group of people contributed in the birth of this name. Have you seen, how many donors there were? And then all those games... It's possible to open a mini business with such a collection. Also, I was able to contribute to this giveaway, so that makes me happy. And like I said in there - it's not a giveaway, it is an event! Bringing so many people together is a special thing, making whole GOG shine even more.

- A giveaway about...cookies?! Thanks to Dotur. I did not participate in this one, but the idea is tasty! Only once I've tried baking cookies (they were...good, yes, they were good!) and wouldn't mind trying again. Once I do that, I'll be sure to check those recipies, listed in the giveaway!

- Christmas avatar beauties. Thanks to PaterAlf. I think this giveaway was one of the first to put many, many members into the holiday mood. I myself changed my avatar (and I still proudly wear it) and even won a game! A lot of members took time to make their avatars as beautiful as they could get. I know my brother was very eager and happy about changing his.

Yes, I vote for these three! Lets hope we will have even more extraordinary giveaways for the next year's competition :P

I think there were some giveaways bigger in games number, but I choose this one in hope to return the favour to the host :D

Thank you and Happy Holidays! +1

I'm in.

I like the Ultima series promo christmas giveaway from Soccorro since I got Ultima 1+2+3 pack from and now that Akalabeth is here my Ultima collection is complete (Well minus Ultima 9 for obvious reasons)

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/ultima_series_promo_christmas_giveaway/page1

Seriously though Despite its flaws as of now I deem Ultima 8 the true finale of the series Really emphasising the fact that Ultima 7, Serpent Isle, and 8 is the Age of Armageddon considering how Ultima 8 ended.

I'd like to nominate these 3:

1) The Saint Basil Giveaway by phandom. He allows ppl to pick up to 5 games to try to win & to qualify you gotta answer 10 questions which were alot of fun to take the time to try to answer them :)

2) Holiday Spirit Giveaway by _Slaugh_ Participants are posting their favorite Christmas songs when they enter the giveaway. So many diff holiday songs to listen to while browsing the forum! Nice prizes, gave a way a couple bundles, etc.

Final Nominee is 3) Square Enix giveaway by ChaunceyK. He was giving away bundles or you could choose the games you wanted to try to win. Nice choice of games too.

Good luck to anyone nominated & Happy New Year to everyone! :)
I'll nominate Sazanamistyle's haiku giveaway: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/get_your_poet_on_for_a_free_game/page1

I'm personally very fond of creative giveaways, even though I don't usually have the talent to enter them, but this one was really fun to follow and to participate in.
I nominate my own three giveaways! Nah, just kidding. The best giveaway(s!) this year were probably all the B.B.B.B.O.B., due to the fact they're so huge. I'd also like to nominate real.geizterfahr's "100" giveaway, though I can't find it to link it! I'm in.

Wow, it's really hard to limit this to just three! I'm happy to see that some of my other favorite giveaways have been mentioned -- it makes me feel better about only being able to nominate three! :D

Because I don't think the member would accept the prize, I'd like to give honorable mention to AnonymousGiftBot for his/her going away giveaway. S/he decided to stop using the AnonymousGiftBot alt because someone(s) figured out who s/he is. We were told to name our most-wanted game, and to nominate one other person to win their most-wanted. In the end, EVERY person and EVERY nominee was gifted their choice of game! :o

On to the actual nominations, in no particular order!

First is Momo's Secret Santa event. Everyone filled with so much holiday cheer ♥ , and we got almost 100 Secret Santas! Just amazing!

Second is BillyMaysFan59's Pipboy contest (HERE). We had to take any drawing of Pipboy from the Fallout series, and make him over in our own way. We had everything from "The Dude" to Sachys-Pipboy to Batman submitted -- it was a lot of fun!

Third is awalterj's Samaritan Paradox giveaway. This one was special to me, personally, for it literally made me cry (the link is to the results post, and you'll see why.) The topic of the thread was poignant, asking us to tell of our biggest opportunities in life, both missed and seized.

I nominate ddickinson for her series of "Great Nations GA's"

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_great_nations_gog_giveaway_5_special_festive_edition/post1

I loved the concept for these GA's and only wished that I hadn't been too busy to participate more. Not only were they kind of educational but they highlighted games from different countries which I found very clever ;-)

~If this entry wins, please give ddickinson both prizes so she can pick something a bit pricier for herself ;-D

My second nomination is for wpegg's Nasty GA

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/a_new_nasty_giveaway/post1

Wpegg has been hosting this GA for several years now but this year was the first where I actually participated. It requires a bit of work to prepare for and on wpegg's end, quite an outlay of cash but it is a wild and fun ride!
