A fan-made launcher for Eador: Genesis.

(UPDATED: Version 2 - ONLY FOR Windows XP/Vista/7)

Fixes timing issues (poor framerate, crackling sound, bad input responsivity) on high-end PCs, caused by the outdated Allegro Library (Elaboration). This is just a temporary solution, this problem requires a patch to be eliminated completely.

Changelog for version 2:
- BES tool is replaced with NtSleep due to BES being unreliable at times (thanks for the feedback).
- Eador.cfg file is tuned a bit more for smooth gameplay in the new throttling environment.

This package contains:
- A tweaked game config file
- A backup of the default config file (named "Eador.cfg.default")
- A program tool for throttling your Eador executable
- A batch file to automate everything

Installation:
1) Delete your previous version of the launcher, if exists (instructions below).
2) Unzip the file to the game dir, overwrite your existing "eador.cfg".
3) Mark "launcher.bat" for running as administrator (Properties -> Compatibility)
4) Use "launcher.bat" to start the game. Create a shortcut for it on your desktop, if you want.

Uninstallation:
1) Remove "launcher.bat" and the "Launcher" dir from your game directory.
2) You can reset the game config file by replacing "eador.cfg" file with "eador.cfg.default".

I downloaded this and it won't unzip. I've used winrar and the Win7 utility and both see all the files as corrupt. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem narpet. My comp rejects Eador.cfg.default and launcher.bat.

Gosh, it has to be my 7-zip archiver. File is now reuploaded and re-checked via Windows Explorer.

The new launcher downloaded and installed nicely. Eador was simply unplayable before, but it's working perfectly now in windowed mode. Thank you!

You can switch to the fullscreen mode whenever you want. Its very simple: open the eador.cfg file in the game dir with any text editor (e.g. windows notepad) and edit the second line:
Windowed (0 - off/1 - on): 1
to:
Windowed (0 - off/1 - on): 0

Hi Preveder. I tried the fullscreen option but unfortunately it reverted to it's orginal unplayable state. I'm still happy with windowed mode. At least I can play the game now.

Fullscreen mode works for me equally well. I will look into it, but, unfortunately, there is not much i can do about it. I guess, its more like a lottery, that's why windowed mode is considered as default by the game.

Didn't do the trick for me here at all, even in windowed mode. What is this "BES" in the 'Launcher' file ? How does it work ? Could you help me a little further ?

[...first time ever I'm experiencing so much trouble launching a game I bought from GOG. This is really annoying 'cause the game looks really cool and, with it not being that old (2009, IIRC), I'm surprised it's not working while I didn't have any problem running much much older games (Ultima series, Martian Memorandum, Alpha Centauri...)...] ^^

I would like to try this out since I have a ton of problems with this game. But can't download the file from dropbox. Not sure why but maybe because I am in China.

BES is a tool for per-application CPU throttling.
Do you have some antivirus software running or strict UAC rules? The batch file or BES tool (or both) might be getting sandboxed or restricted. When using launcher, check your system tray for BES icon to make sure it gets launched. Click the icon to access the current status. Correctly activated BES tool should like this:

You can try to lower BES restrictions by adding "run as administator" setting for it too. The manual for BES tool with troubleshooting can be found at: http://mion.faireal.net/BES/
