headholo: This is what i did for non-GOG version.

regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node

right-click on that 'WOW6432Node' key and choose 'New Key'

new key = BioWare

right-click on that new 'BioWare' key and choose 'New Key'.

Add 'Dragon age'

right-click on that new 'Dragon Age' key and choose New Value

Add ' Path ' in top box

Add your exact game path folder name in Bottom box

ie:

E:\games\Dragon age - Ultimate collection
or
E:\games\Dragon age

e.t.c.

Job Done.

p.s:
If you've been playing Mass effect games you will already have the Bioware key so you can skip the first step.

Also ,i was reading this ,not sure if it might be helpful:
https://jerbecca.wordpress.com/2011/03/04/get-dragonage-origins-toolset-on-64-bit-windows-7-steam-and-sql-express-2008/
Where to find this file? I'm not able to open toolset because of error as "GOG version of DA:O not found."

Edit: Basically I'm not able to able open toolset with GOG version.

Having had both versions on my computer at the same time, I opted to go with the GOG version, as it appears to be more stable overall. Uninstalled the Origin version, and have been playing the GOG version. I've encountered an issue and need to ensure that my world state saved correctly (got an incorrect slide in the epilogue -- possibly due to a mod?) before moving on to Awakenings. For that, I need to run the toolkit.

Now, however, the .cmd file packaged with the GOG version of the kit does not seem to have an effect on the registry, and so, as far as both the toolkit and my PC are concerned, there isn't an installed version of DA:O on my PC.

Going to attempt adding it in manually, as per the instructions on this thread. We'll see how it goes.

ETA:

Opted to try a few things before creating the key:

1) Verified the game files. This was ineffective in creating the key.

2) Ran the DA Config utility in admin mode, created a desktop shortcut and closed out the program. Lo and behold, there it was -- an appropriate key! Edited the "Path_" to "Path", as mentioned in previous posts. Booted up the toolkit installer and away it went. Currently waiting for the SQL server to set up.

Kartaugh: I have no such key in my registry....what's going on here?

I also cannot install the toolset since it cannot find the game, but your fix is also not possible because I don't have that registry key. The only thing under Bioware there is NWN.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thiev: Currently I suspect there are some problems with Galaxy Client and the newest Windows 10 update. Keys / shortcuts are not being created.

If you installed the game via Galaxy Client, try Verify / Repair option - this should recreate the keys.
If you used offline installers, you can create the key on your own
- right-click on BioWare key, choose New -> Key, name it Dragon Age
- click once to highlight the newly created key, right click again, New -> String Value
- name it Path, it should appear in the right panel
- double click the new value and a window will appear where you should put the whole path to your installation
Thanks!!!
This is a report to state my experience with installation of the Dragon Age Origins Toolset.

Game is installed with the non-client installers, not GOG Galaxy. The toolset would not install on first try or after running the bat file included in the toolset download package. The toolset did install after following the instructions about how to manually edit the registry key from Thiev in post # 9 of this thread.

I also followed the part about changing the registry key back to GOG default after Toolset installation so Origin client doesn't change the game to Origin version.

The toolset has now been installed for about three days and seems to work. I have used it for about 4-5 hours total (making a new character, opening and studying .mop and .mor files, and just kinda poking around). No crashes or lockups, occasional delays.

Shorter version ; Toolset is installed after following registry key edit instructions from Thiev, page 1, post 9, this thread.
Also have this problem with the GOG version.

Bluescoutz: Also have this problem with the GOG version.
Did you run the regkey-switch.cmd script that comes in the toolset download?
What error message do you get when you try to use the toolset?

There's a regkey-switch with the game but that doesn't work, it says that it cannot find Dragon Age: Origins game install.

Did you run thr regkey script as administrator?
Did you run the DA Config utility in admin mode, that should have created a registry entry.
Was the game installed through Galaxy (if so try verify)
If the game was installed with the stand alone installers you might have to add the registry key yourself.

Hello everybody,
i'm also in the rather painfull process of trying to install the toolset.
As above the message sent is always the same "game install not found". If i try to run the toolset installer while the game itself is running the message sent is "DAO or one of its components was detected as still running. Please exit before trying again".

I have no key registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Bioware.
It is instead under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\GOG.com\Games\1949616134 and the path seems to be correct.

I installed DAO trough GOG Galaxy, and i have already checked the integrity of the local files.
If anyone has any idea, i would really appreciate the help
Cheers

I don't use galaxy but it would appear the tooset installer only looks for the game path in one place.
So I would manually add the keys to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\BioWare.
Note: BioWare not Bioware.

I attached a pic of mine, but don't put the underscore after Path

Thanks you for the response, while trying to create a new key like you suggested, I noticed that now in my registry the correct path had somehow been created (out of the blue, wtf).
I have now installed the toolset but obviously it doesnt work, because that would have been too good... I'll look for some workaround of that.

Anyway thanks again for your help!

EDIT:
I found a step by step on nexus on how to set up the toolset + SQL install and now the toolset is finally working...yay
Cheers

Before you go changing too much.
If your getting the unable to connect to Database message.
Just check you have the SQLServer service running. See Pic:
Go Start>Search and type services, to see what's running . It will probably be the top entry.
