Sorry. In BG main folder, where you installed the game.

In Windows explorer in top left corner, click Organize->Folder and search options
Under 'View' tab -> Advanced settings, uncheck 'Hide extension for known filetypes' and 'hide protected system files', check 'show hidden files'.
Apply and Apply to Folders.

I can't find it. Could not find that Organize folders thing either. Windows Explorer would be Internet Explorer right?

No, Window explorer is what you browse your folders with.

Alternatively, go to Menu Start and in 'Search program and files' box, type 'folder'. You should see Folder Options at the top and access it that way too.

Did all you said about hidden files and it doesn't show anything.

That would be strange.
Ok, go to Folder Options once again.
This time, under 'Search' tab, check 'include sub folders' and ' include system directories'
Apply, then Ok.

Go to 'My Computer', hit F3.
search for 'baldur.ini'

Out of curiosity, where was it?

In the Gog Folder
You could also download Gatekeeper for BG1(http://www.mud-master.com/gatekeeper/)
and shadowkeeper for BG2(http://www.mud-master.com/shadowkeeper/)

With this, you can edit your savegames and the characters therein. Stats of characters, inventory etc. can be edited with this program. This way you may only get killed by demiliches or Demigorgon, but I guess you're still in BG1, so no worries :P
