** A note on Dog: Every time I played the game, Dog would already be dead when I found him. At first I cried. Then I realized I had a Resurrection scroll :) Just use one of those.

I believe that if you spend enough time (an in-game hour, maybe?) in town, the gnome starts attacking the dog even if you haven't entered the trigger area. To be safe, you should run to where he is as soon as you enter Ashbury the first time.

That said, smart move with the scroll! Still, it's much less satisfying than intimidating the Gnomish jerk into running off . . . and then beating him up anyway. Bonus points if you let Dog do it. :-)

You can resurrect people who haven't joined your party? That's news to me..
Yeah I did it today when a guy who was part of a quest died during a combat and he kind of got caught in the crossfire. I resurrected him since he was the reward giver. But he didn't give me the reward so you can res people not in your party but it might mess up quests associated with them

Yup. As far as I can tell, the only people you can't resurrect are the murder victims (ironic right).
Is it possible for your party members to become crippled? If so, how can you tell when they are hurt?

I don't think your party members can ever be crippled but if it were possible their stats would be red on their character sheet (can be looked at by clicking on their portrait). Ive beaten the game 5+ times and have recruited every single NPC (except for poor poor Weldo Rubin) with multiple characters and have never noticed a crippled follower so if it can happen its exceedingly rare. If your followers do have red stats its more likely that they picked up a cursed item or you put one in their inventory and they equipped it. Be careful about giving your guys unidentified items.

Romoth: How are levels calculated for when you pick up a character? Do they level every time you do? I picked up Sogg when I was lvl 14 and he's lvl 2. I haven't levelled up since then so haven't been able to test it.

Is there a convenient way to level them up if the above is not the case?
If you're really concerned with the levels of companions Arcanum Edit allows you to change a number of stats directly including level. It only mods what you input directly. Increasing level of npc does not give him character points nor does it advance auto-leveling so it does nothing for skills, spells or schematics. You can add stats directly, however. Presumably further leveling the normal way will follow the auto-level scheme since it's not dependent on level.

Aren't there specific "goodies" that each companion will take? Like Thorvald likes Dwarven Snuff, and Jayna likes Sweet Cakes? They're supposed to increase the companion's Attitude towards you, right? Is the option to offer them a "gift/bribe" only available when they're so pissed that they've left the party?

This isn't Dragon Age. Your companion's attitude towards you can't be changed with gifts, and whether or not they can rejoin the party after abandoning it varies from character to character.

I finished the game a long time ago.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right. I don't remember what corresponds to what character (I like to max Persuasion and Charisma so Followers leaving is kind of a non-issue), but I believe you can give them certain stuff to make them friendlier to you.
Great guide there Prator, thanks!

One question though, which of the NPCs (besides Virgil) have voice acting? I know that Magnus does, as does Garr, and I want to say Raven does as well. Are there any more, and if so, who?

Virgil, Magnus, Gar, Geoffrey Tarellond-Ashe, Raven, Franklin Payne

I think that is it. I could be wrong though, I haven't played with many of the followers in forever (/I actually haven't played Arcanum at all in a long time)

Oh, and to the previous question (from July), about items that improve follower reactions toward your PC: yes, they do exist, it is a bit like Dragon Age actually (unlike what Prator said - though it isn't explained anywhere or something that would be easy to find if you don't know it can happen, so I understand why it wouldn't be known).
Off the top of my head the only two I can think of are the ones that predcon mentioned (though I remember Magnus liking Dwarven Snuff, so maybe all Dwarven followers like that). I would assume you could give Sogg Mead Mug alcohol and it would increase his reaction to you. Other than that, no idea.
