goggogaowsm: Do you often make the hexes look like that btw?
I always make the hexes visible. Ctrl H I think. Especially when folks use the 1.4 or other updates to make the land all confusingly 3D. :)

Humans, Day 88

Today I took a chill. I'm worried. There are plagues of many kind all over the land and I fear I may have more than a 24 hour bug.

Alas, I woke from my night sweats and realized the end is near. I shall go out on my own terms though. Good night cruel world, good night.

TS

ooc: That was an epic game! Even though I ended up losing, it was a lot of fun. You two are bastards. Well, mostly Southern for ditching our alliance five or six turns before I was ready. :)
Last turn

We break the rules, breaking alliance, declaring war, and attacking all in the same turn. Simply so that my wizard could attack another wizard, and die horribly.

We have a newly rebuilt wizard tower, next to a rebuilder from the Goblins, which will surely lead to an usual way of being defeated.

Well played Southern, 2 out of 2 for you in our 3 way matches.

I definitely threw it away. I started so well but was too indecisive and cautious. Part of it, was I was trying to save up 8000 gold, so I could buy a town in the north underground (that later Goblins took), and get an ancient dragon, which I thought would make me unstoppable. In the end I kept panic buying so not sure I went above 4000. Clearly instead I should have just spent the 4000 much sooner on aggressive forces. Also only thought about getting balloons and air galleys a long time after both of you, so my men were very slow to get anywhere until it was too late. And I never really developed a good hero, think my best reached about 17 defence.

Should have bribed one of you sooner to declare war on the other, that map was always going to go the way of whoever avoiding fighting when we were all strong. Had more troops than humans but lost all the key fights badly, but had enough to drag you down for Southern to overcome the rest :) Lots learned, ready for another one when you both are :)

phew!

I got very lucky this game, both with the dragon razing stack, and the diplomacy ;)

The downside to the balloon / air galley route is that it sort of forces you to focus on the surface. Those transport units are much less useful underground since there are no mountain ranges to leap over. You're still stuck going down corridors with a million choke points.

I kept trying to figure out how to take the battle to Southern in the underground and never really did.

In hindsight, I should have ceded the former Draconian Tower to Southern early and stayed to the South. Then the two of you would have continued to have a battle front and I could have found another Tower to serve as backup.

Regardless, that was a very good game on a fun map.

Shall we get another one going or take a break? I'm enjoying the Game of Thrones map currently. It's nice being on a map that is completely unknown! I have no idea what to expect...
How about this one: http://aow2.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=1111

I think we would each need to download the resources and put them in our game folder.

Gog - would your brother be interested? 4 player, co-op vs. AI. Reviews are good.
I'll sign up for that!

I changed my mind re: that map... Read later reviews and it sounds BORING!!! Nothing but building for something crazy like 50 turns. Heck with that.

This was the most fun map I've played as co-op. Link

Here is the turn log from 2013: Link

I'm not gonna lie... This map was freaking hard, but I still have fond memories. Two of the human players perished or diminished to nothing pretty early. I was playing Dark Elves and did well. The other human player and I definitely had to band together to fight the AI.

I'll ask if he's interested in doing one :)

I did that map a few months ago, its very good but would prefer to do one I've not done before, or haven't done recently.

Damn. Fully agree re: not doing recent maps again.

Ask anyway. We could do a 6 or 8 person large map with a couple of AI Wizards to spice things up. And some fun house rules to keep anyone from exploiting the AI too much.
He's up for playing, we're down for any sort of map :)

Cool! PM me his email address and I'll get something started this week with some "house rules" to make it fun for all of us. :)

Will probably make some silly rules like an enforced FFA (Free for all) using "All Human players must be at war with all other players." Whenever you meet another player, you must declare war. And you may never accept peace...
