Syndicate on GOG.com on 19th of January--plus: a contest!

The legendary Syndicate will take over GOG.com on the 19th of January.

The original sci-fi strategy Syndicate will be released on GOG.com for $5.99 this Thursday. This gritty cyberpunk treasure shows up here with some bonus content: the game manual, dark SF artworks, and avatars.

As you can read in this review Syndicate is “A modern masterpiece. The self-respecting gamer should ensure they have Syndicate nestling snugly on the games shelf as soon as possible.” Follow the wise advice and get Syndicate in just two days for $5.99.

While you’re waiting, we’re having a fun contest to keep you guys occupied until Thursday:

Syndicate is a game set in a grim future. As the world’s multinational corporations grew, their profits began to rival those of small countries. Soon they owned small countries and corporate influence was felt at the highest level of world government. Smaller corporations were swallowed up like plankton in the wake of behemoth mega-corporations.

GOG.com needs your help to take over the world. You and three friends--real or imaginary, past or future--are going to form a team that you’d recommend to us to lead the charge to make GOG.com the world’s biggest Syndicate.

We want to know if you’re up for the challenge.

Mission:
Assemble your team of cyborgs, give us your Team Name, Method of Operation, and any other relevant information you'd like.

Go on, spread your influence across the globe and tell us how.

Bounty:
1 free copy of Syndicate for the 10 posters who have the best Syndicate team. We’ll be reading through all of your posts (Hello, discordiac, our new marketing manager who “volunteered” for this job!) and picking the ones that we like best.

Rules:
1. Only one entry post per user. Feel free to comment & edit until the contest closes.
2. You may enter into similar contests that we are running on Twitter and Facebook, but only once via each different channel.
3. We will be picking 10 of our favorite teams from this thread to win their free copies of Syndicate.
4. The contest will end on Thursday the 19th of January 2012 at 7:00 AM EST.

Team Name: Pen & Dragon

Team Members:

Name: Henry McKenzle
Codename: Ector
--------------------
Team Leader. Augmented with state-of-the-art enhancements. Preferred weapons are snipers and assault rifles. Rumors is that he has the ability to monitor his teammates'
status and point-of-views.

Name: Thomas Devlin
Codename: Bedivere
--------------------
Second-in-command. Augmented with body enhancements. Expert in heavy weapons, explosives. Despite having sheer strength and temporary health regeneration, he knows when to go loud and when to be silent. Currently learning advanced hacking for adapting to missions, in case when the team have to be seperated.

Name: Greg Revost
Codename: Merlin
--------------------
Lead hacker. Augmented with head enhancements. Expert in hacking and light weapons. Greg's greatest achievement yet, is turning over a rival company's HQ to his own company, via hacking into a basic server with a phone. Ridiculously hard, yet possible.

Name: Lisa Maberin
Codename: Saber
--------------------
Not much is known about her, other than the fact that she is a prototype agent fitted with prototype augmentations, notably an adamantium endoskeleton protecting her internal organs. She's the pointman of the team, also the youngest agent in the company, at age 24. Other than being an expert in close quarter combat and stealth, her team file stated that she is capable in hacking old computers. (The ones with keyboard and mouse.), which is odd, considering that it is unrelevant to her capabilities during missions. It is also noted that most of the company's employees, including several high-ranking personnels, are restricted from accessing her personal files.

Method of Operation:

1. Use a Persuadatron on multiple civilians (Police included).
2. Order the civilians to create chaos nearby the target location for distraction.
3a. If successful, the team will quietly infiltrate the target location without being noticed, take out enemies with either stealth or brute force, depending on the situation, and complete their objectives, like a boss.
3b. If failed, the team could just go loud and slaughter the enemies and civilians (If they unfortunate to get caught between the crossfires.) and complete their objectives. AT least the victims' families can't sue the company for that, right?

So, it appears the deadline for submission is passed.

Overall, I think the odds of winning are pretty good. Less than or around 200 actual entry posts with 10 copies of the game to give away. I like those odds. :)

I...... won?

Huh, didn't expect that. Guess I'll have to warm up the old mad science drawing tools and draw a picture of the team then. Seems only fair since they pulled off a victory for me and the entire GOG community against the evils of DRM.
