An enjoyable and Relaxing experience.
The Good 1-Combat is fun. 2-The music is on point (More than that )........Perfect. 3-The Story is good. The bad -Level design can be a headache sometimes.(Not bad But okay). -level cap .

Fun game, little on the short side for a RPG. But has a fun bump combat system. It has some issues didn't know there was a config.exe (doesn't popup on first time starting the game) which you most certainly need to get the right resolution. Vsync doesn't seem to work with boss battles so those are nearly impossible to beat if you don't limit your framerate manually using something like rivatuner (for some reason the limter in the driver didn't work) Other than that it runs pretty flawless. Definitely will check out the other Ys games :)

One of the best JRPG's ever made.
Long ago I played Popful Mail, and enjoyed it quite a bit. When I found out that wasn't the rpg styled game Falcom made, I just had to give Ys a good go. So far, I'm loving every bit of it. The music is amazing, the gameplay is simple but really effective. Level grinding is fun especially when you get new equipment. Exploring dungeons is always fun! This is one of my favourite video games.

A true classic arpg
Ys 1&2 is a retro arpg with a unique fighting system(the bump system) you just run into enemies trying to be slightly off their center in order to damage them while if you run into them straight on you exchange blows resulting in you taking dmg also. Save yourself the trouble and use a guide on this one the game was made in a different gaming era and ys1 is rather short(it took me around 6 hours to finish) if you know what to do. I completely disagree with those that say that the game is painfully difficult(I played on normal), most bosses are easy and the few that are not just requires you to get their rhythm down, no boss took me more than 5 tries. The music is phenomenal, the tunes match the action on the screen to a T and the boss fight music pumps you up. To conclude ys1&2 is a really charming and enjoyable retro game, going into it expecting modern game design is nonsensical since they were made in 1987 and 1988 but they hold up remarkably well.

Great origins of a multi-game saga
The first JRPGs I have tried and finished!!! (Previously tried and failed to finish DQXI twice, and could not continue Trails in the Sky either for too long) Probably the faster real-time combat has something to do with it. The best aspect of these games is the storytelling. While technologically upgraded, they are still old games with their set of quirks. Boss battles are tough, often it is not clear what to do next, no automap feature but labyrinthine dungeons.. all make it necessary to heavily depend upon internet help, unless you have humongous amount of hours to go around in circles till you figure things out. I played these games so that I could follow the story of Adol Christin from the very beginnings, and it was worth it. Figuring out the mystery of the Ys was on its own a rewarding experience. All in all a great purchase.
