fun little game, but 3 major weaknesses
Gameplay: The game consits out of 3 main parts: 1. Deciding what to do with the requests of your subordinates. It is mainly a decision between: 1. Give ressources 2. Send somone 3. Ignore them. There are a few small storylines, but many are just one-time encounters 2. Upgrading buildings: This is the alternative to helping the peasants. Higher Investments, but clearer result. 3. Talk with your family and decide their fate throughout the game through this There are some more aspects (Deciding who to ally, 2 battles (Rock, Paper, Scissor and you know what the enemy took), a small detective task) but they are not the core gameplay loop. All these parts are fun and are accompined by a suiting soundtrack, but have a few problems: 1. Difficulty: You can easily buy all the buildings and still treat the peasants more than satisfactory. The game always tells you, that you just have limited ressources and it is true, that you can not help everyone. But overall I never had the impression that I really had to decide wether to be disliked by my people or spend ressources, as I nearly always had enough. 2. Different Playstyles: In games like Long live the queen, you reach a different story branch if you focus on other traits (e.g. military, magic, diplomatic etc.). In Your Grace this is not the case. You have to balance the ressources and thats it. You could differ in the dialog with your family, which results in most differnt outcomes, but they are often pretty obvious good/bad decisions. So if you managed your whole family to survive there is not much replay value (Note: Game took only 5+ hours) 3. Humor vs. Seriousness: The dialogs are lighthearted, which is nice to read but sometimes is contraproductive. When the game wants to struck you emotionally or make decisions about the life of your subordinates its difficult to feel a conflict, because the mood has not been set. Overall: It is a short, fun game and I really enjoyed it, but it has obvious downsides.
