Xeno Crisis is an arena shooter in which one or two players take control of battle-hardened marines embarking on a deadly mission to confront an alien menace and get home alive! Run and gun your way through thousands of adversaries as you explore the devastated research outpost, searching for survivors, and ultimately facing the origin of the outpost's demise.
Outpost 88 is divided into seven distinct areas, each being randomly generated with each play, meaning that your strategy must evolve on the fly if you're to succeed in your mission. Collect dog-tags from vanquished enemies to upgrade your equipment between areas and look out for special weapons which will give you a momentary advantage.
A faithful port of the hit 16 bit game with added extras.
Incredible pixel art from the legendary pixel artist, Henk Nieborg.
Intense FM chiptune soundtrack by Savaged Regime, originally created for the YM2612!
It may be too legacy for young player.
Although the design may be compromised for old consoles.
It is easy to understand, easy to get fun from the game.
I enjoy playing this game.
It's a great top down shooter, really clean and refined, good variety. I had a lot of fun chasing high scores and trying to advance to the next levels.
However, the default controls are some of the worst I can imagine, a mirror swap of the standards any experienced player will be accustomed to with no option to alter them in any way. That's just bad design for any game, any genre, whatever the case. This would be mitigated a degree if the controller support was reliable but it isn't. It stops working between sessions with no rhyme or reason. Works on on system at one time and then stops, refuse to work on one and then starts. It's completely unreliable.
It's a fantastic action game with great presentation but the poor controls make it nearly impossible for me to enjoy.
I played XenoCrisis for hours, this game is a staple on any great party and always fun on Halloween, Gamescom and every Alien themed party...
But...this version is not good at all.
I have both the Megadrive Version aswell as the Dreamcast one.
I bought the PC version for conveniance, but the glitches in sound, the lacking options (no 4:3 mode), wrong speed and changes in controls have left a great legacy missing.
The game is good, but the execution is very flawed, the same happened to the Switch version. Sometimes these ports stutter, also the sound is "off" when using 5.1 speakers, the stereo falls flat against the heavier SEGA machine.
I tried playing with the Genesis controller, but the game does not recognise it at all. 2 player is impossible when using certain combinations, also the twin stick controls do not feel right after hours of the SEGA version.
This is not a good version, better get the SEGA ROM at the official site and call it a day.
