Game (with War of the Chosen Expansion) Keep Crashing, i get too see xcom 2 logo, but than just crash to desktop, never happened with steam version, tried look up the forum, the 'solution' didnt work
Once again there is no mention of time limit in this game on the main page. If you want to experience slow stategic gameplay - forget about it. This game is all about "tension" (aka masochism) - you have LIMITED time to finish your missions, which forces you to hurry, to engage enemies head-on, leaving no place for subtle approach. Some people love it this way, some hate it this way. Make your choice of buying this XCOM wisely.
Everything was supposed to please me. I like sci-fi, i like turn based tactical games but I didn't got hooked ... dunno
I prefered much more the shadowrun saga for example
I think maybe the fact of having a 3D game for a tactical game maybe doesn't please me.
I didn't had any immersion either or feel any attachment to characters so 3 stars for me
I prefer playing TableTopSimulator games for tactical combat
Or MassEffect 1 & 2 for SciFi 3D games
sorrryyyy
This game runs horribly on AMD video cards. Doesn't use the video hardware AT ALL.
To reduce the crash frequency, you have to reduce the resolution to less than 1400x900.
The scripted events rarely trigger when the are supposed too.
You are forced to 'start a new game' in an attempt to work-around non-firing/non-triggering events.
The game constantly stutters/freezes as it searches for non-existent files.
If you don't get the install order correct, none of the DLC packs are found by the game.
War of the Chosen problems :
The 'Bink Video' nag-ware is really annoying. Forced to endure every mission briefing at least twice.
If you don't do the Legacy missions first, the 'rescue the resistance from ADVENT retaliation' missions frequently crash.
Your troops are always tired.
Ability Points are so rare, the faction troops are not worth the trouble.
XCOM2 is one of the best game of it's kind, with it's cleaver AI, soldiers customization both visually and mechanically, logical and practical tactical approach to the challenges without turning them into fixed puzzles, and of course an interesting story concept that can keep the player interested and push him/her to achieve success with limited resource and personnel; A very well done simulation of "guerrilla warfare with aliens", with flying mobile base included, that despite some minor flaws is actually pretty fair and never boring.
Unfortunately as of now 18/3/2020, is strongly recommended TO NOT BUY the game here on GOG, as it doesn't support mods nor the official SDK necessary to mod the game is available here.
Mods being one of XCOM2 most important feature, an absolutely essential tool to dramatically improve and customize the game to the player choice by removing or altering any option to perfection, be it by challenge or simple items; the lack of this feature pretty much kill the game longevity and value, making the GOG variant plain out inferior to it's Steam competitor, worse there is no mention of it in the game main page, tricking the customer into believing this game feature complete while it's obviously not.
Until this tremendous problem is fixed on GOG, it's impossible to give to give this game anything more then a 2 stars, despite the Steam version easily deserving a 5.
