Having completed the base game and the first DLC (Hearts of Stone) iam very pleased i bought the game. Being a BIG fan of the franchise CD Project Red made a wonderfull game that keeps you wanting to play it. Iam just about to start my second playthrough, can't wait!
Massive expansion of W3 game - and an excellent story with great actors
In some aspects I enjoyed this bit more than the original game - a first for me on a DLC
This journey from start to finish has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my entire 15+ years of gaming, and frankly, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't carry this story with me for the rest of my life, even outside of gaming. I have had an affinity for character story-driven RPGs ever since I discovered videogames as a medium and, don't get me wrong there have been some good ones, even some great ones before this, but NONE can even come close to the incredibly powerful combination of top-notch story telling and design of characters that you will experience and play through in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt + DLCs.
I wouldn't try to convince anyone that the game is perfect, but it is as close as humanly possible to an absolute masterpiece of creation and design. What's more is, as the player, you can actually feel this. You know that the remarkably talented team at CDPR put everything they have into this title and that it wasn't just some triple-A title that they wanted to make money on. They are a proud development team and they ensure that their work reflects all of the many areas of their unbelievable talent. There's so many things in-game that I would love to talk about, but with the rest of my review I want to talk about the story.
First of all, the world that they place you into comes alive instantly. That view of Mountain Pass from the top of Kaer Morhen tower is unreal. I've gone back to stare at that for 10 minutes at a time at least a half dozen times now. Many developers can create a beautiful landscape, that's the easy part, but how many can actually get you to care about what is happening within that landscape? To contemplate for an hour about which choice to make because you're unsure how it might affect the world, or even better, instead you don't care what the consequences are for the world at large so long as you can ensure the safety of one other character.
I will never forget this experience and I sincerely thank you CDPR!
