The year is 2673, four years after the Treaty of Torgo and the end of the Kilrathi War. As hostilities died out, more trivial concerns like rebuilding what was lost or dealing with space piracy, became the biggest concerns of the Terran Confederation. Even Christopher "Maverick" Blair, the famous Confed pilot responsible for ending the war, settled down and became a farmer. In these times of peace, humans grew fat and complacent. All good things must end, though. Soon enough, heinous incidents erupted on the outskirts of the Confederation, and humanity was forced to the brink of civil war. Confed HQ needed the best and decided to recall Colonel Blair to active duty.
Why sell a game that you have to find patches for to try and get it to work??? I would expect to do this on an illegal download but not on one thats purchashed. These games should be tested before being released. Check the forums on this game and its full of complaints.
I love you good old games and normally you do such a great job but unless someone is getting this game for the amazing bonus content or is just happy that it starts it is not worth the money. The game starts and it looks great but once you have to play it that is when things fall apart. I am playing it on windows seven and the keyboard is too slow of a controller and none of the four USB joysticks I tried world work. The game is pretty much unplayable in it's current form. Add to that the fact that there is no way to access the menu so the only way to get out of the game is using cnt+alt+del and you have one bad game. You can get to the first level and then nothing works. Unless you want the bonus content which for me is kind of worth the $6 save your money because it seems this game can not be made to work on a modern system. GOG normally does such a great job so this is a real let down. They should just sell the bonus content without the game because the game is unplayable and just takes up a massive amount of space on your hard drive. Sorry folks but I am afraid this time GOG has blown it. I really don't think this game was tested before they released it. I am sorry to say Wing Commander 4 just doesn't work.
Please fix:
setup_wing_commander_4_1.0.0.6-2.bin downloads only up to 337 MB and then progresses no further.
I downloaded all other pieces OK, just have a problem with this last one.
This game could have been great, but the controls are just horrific and it runs poorly even on a high-end computer. Chris Roberts’ ego is completely undeserved, especially with this horrific game!
