Fantastic game, still holds up today!

40k Space Marine still holds up today, its unfogiving and crutal 3rd person FPS. The story is mianly told via cutseens and audio logs will fill in every blank and all your questions. It's a game you just cant stop playing. Its challenging and rewardgin with a steady increase in defficulty and only a few spikes along the way. As a note, if you crash on Windows 11 (at a very specific point with a white flash) set the game to Windows 7 compatability mode and you'll stop crashing.

Fun Shooter if you can start it

I run in to the Problem of not starting at all because of having more than 8 cores There is a fix for it https://github.com/adrian-lebioda/SpaceMarineCoreFix Found it via Steam https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2023164262 But if I buy it on GOG i expect the fix be part of the game. (keeping old games alive???) Then I also needed to run the game with admin rights. --> 1 Star removed The Game itself is a 4/5, simple solid story. Hast a lot of fun parts, slashing orks and later chaos, i don't like it if you can't jump at all and the limitations of only 4 weapons would have loved to rotate through the whole arsenal.

Runs great, plays better!

After playing through Space Marine 2, I decided to go back and play the original and was happy to find it here for FAR cheaper than the Anniversary Edition on Steam. The game holds up quite well and plays great. That being said, I had to go into my Nvidia Control Panel and manually limit the framerate to 60fps as if it's allowed to run as fast as it can, it was causing black screens after the first in-game cutscene. Played it on a 7800x3d with a 4090 and Windows 10.

Fun, but not awesome.

I would give it 6-7 on 10, so it makes 3 stars and maybe a half. If you're WH40k fan - add a star (but if you are a fan, you' ve played that game already). If it is on a sale add half a star - so it makes 4 stars then. Otherwise it's 3, because 130PLN it's definitely too much. It didn't age that well. Played it on high difficulty, and took it slow (sightseeing, you know) - it took me about 11 hours to finish. Game is linear as a blaster shot. Basically it is a large corridor. + Fights are quite good. Shooting has decent "umpf!" to it, Melee is acceptable. I like difficulty level and enemies AI - they tend to fight more or less reasonable. + It is well paced and has nice fluidity. There is no boredom. + Ruined city with monumental architecture has some nice views. + Weapons variety and carrying system - I find it interesting. You have to gamble a bit which weapon will be more useful later. - Story is predictible. Not bad, rather Wh40k standard, but I have feeling that it is lazy written. There is no depth in any single character. There is also plot hole concerning main character which is completely unexplained, but it is important part of a story. - Some enemies are too bullet spongy for me - I would prefer just more if them, otherwise you have feeling that your mighty bolter is not that mighty as you thought. - Graphics are average at best, even for a 2011. - Technically there are some flaws like invisible walls, movement is a little clunky and you could be blocked by some minor obstructions (annoying in fights sometimes); two times picked servoskull didn't play message, something like this. - Game is a little obscure in descriptions. It is not a major flaw, but I'd prefer to have weapons descriptions in game - and not need to search internet for differences between, i.e. chainsword or poweraxe. - Final boss fight is unsatisfying as... sth very unsatisfying. It is QTE and I was disappointed at the end.

This is awesome!

I'm playing Space Marine in 2024, as I want to know all the backstory of Titus. And the game is awesome! Yes, for 2024 the grapgics are a bit simplistic. And the gameplay is less posighed than Space Marine 2. But it is still a fun game! The characters are memorable. The voices of all named chatracters are disticnct and recognizable. The music is appropriate. The combat is fast and fun, but you still have to think about what you're doing, and keep track of various threats. Most importanty, the game wonderfully illustrates Warhammer 40`000. I recognize the 40k universe in the environments, the action, and the epic stakes. And I love it!
