Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate

One of the best and most frustrating games I've ever played. And no small share of that frustration was the bugs... If the game crashes randomly during play, one possible cause is an old bug in the game files. One of the sound files was called something like LasPistol.wav (or something like that, I remember it was las- or laser-something) but in one of the config files the file was called Laspistol.wav (note the capitalization!) and this mismatch caused the game to crash. I can't remember the exact details bu... Loved the game growing up doesnt seem to work on widows 10 still so I can only review the GOG version hopefully its fixed at some point

I have wanted a decent version of this game for so long that doesnt require 1000 diffferent special tricks to load the game, finally the game loads up and plays with a click of a button...unfortunately the mouse stutters along all the time, exteremly infuriating. Hope they either fix this problem soon, or someone posts a trick. i had the same dramas with panzer general 2..that fix didnt work.

This game is a great strategy game for fans of Warhammer 40k. Yes, the graphics are outdated (1024x768 resolution), and the game sometimes slows down a lot, especially when showing tooltips. But once you have mastered all the shortcut keys, it delivers a great 40k experience. At the start, you only get to use regular space marines, but you do get to kit them out with weapons. LAter, you can also uses Terminators and Predators, among others. For people who cannot get it to work on Windows 10: Try copying 'dplayx.dll' from the windows/syswow64 folder into the chaos gate game folder (where WH40K.exe is located). This should make the game start properly.

I was pretty sure downloading older games from here that the whole point to it was so I didn't have to have a CD to play it. So why when I get the thing to start in compatibility mode is it asking me for the CD ROM?
