Retro-shooting and fast-paced arenas suit the Warhammer 40K setting nicely, but Boltgun falls short of greatness because its ideas peter out too quickly. Some good level design and nice environments make up for a lack of variety.

INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL RETRO FPS GAME
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun – Forges of Corruption Edition is the best DOOM-like retro FPS I’ve ever played! What I love most is the gameplay—it’s fast, satisfying, and gloriously gory. Enemies explode in crunchy gibs when blasted with powerful weapons, and it never gets old. The environments are equally impressive, ranging from gothic cities to scorching deserts and sprawling industrial metropolises. Enemy variety is strong, with designs faithful to the 40K universe—Chaos Terminators even arrive with a heavy “clank” when they teleport in. Sound design adds to the immersion, making every battle feel weighty and intense. The DLC is excellent too, introducing new enemies and weapons that add even more flavor. Best of all, Boltgun embraces horde-style combat—every room spawns dozens of enemies like Serious Sam, creating nonstop mayhem that keeps me coming back for more.

My fav indie shooter
By far one of the funnest and most addicting doom style shooters I have played. Just my opinion. I love slaying unholy fiends in the name of the god emperor.
