Fear the wolves. They are cold, they are hungry - and they will stop at nothing to survive…
Ragnarok. Legend has it that when the coldest winter descends, the Jotan will return to take their vengeance against the Gods of Asgard. The world is on the road to perdition and the fate of Midgard hangs in the balance. But when the Fire and Frost Giants begin to merge their armies, they encounter the clan of the Ulfung – the Wolves of Midgard. Bloody, but unbowed following the destruction of their village, this notorious band of ostracized Viking warriors are determined to seize their destiny and save the world. As clan chief, you must save Midgard from complete annihilation, and spearhead the charge to vanquish the fiendish creatures of the Fimbulwinter.
Fantasy Meets Norse Mythology - Travel the realms of earthly Midgard, freezing Niflheim and boiling Balheim, either as a fierce Viking warrior or merciless shieldmaiden.
The Deadly Fimbulwinter - Withstand the deathly colds and protect yourself from exposure to nature’s wrath in order to survive.
Tribute To The Gods - Collect blood from fallen enemies and sacrifice it at the altar to gain gifts from the Gods to enhance your powers.
Berserker Rage - Let your anger take hold by activating Rage Mode to overwhelm your enemies in bloodthirsty combat.
The Art Of Combat - Perfect your skills with each weapon to unlock their true potential, including swords, bows and spell-powered canes.
The Power Of The Gods - Make the abilities of the Gods your own by equipping power-infused amulets, like the Talismans of Thor or Loki. Put your new skills to the test by competing in the Trials of the Gods to earn further rewards.
Teamwork - Team up with a friend and journey to the Shores of Midgard together in an epic two player online co-op mode. Choose between four difficulty levels to suit your skills and talents. Do you dare attempt the unrelenting hardcore mode?
The game could have been great. The combat feels nice, the grphics are good enough. The environments are somewhat unique. However it is buggy. The bug that has ruined it for me was the one where I could not enter the boss arena (iron guardian) at the end of the map thus making me unable to progress. What a shame. I conntacted the devs about the bug and all they gave me is "your hardware's fault" which I think is BS as I could play the game perfectly fine.
The good:
-Setting
-Jokes
-Atmosphere
-Combat
-Couch co op (have not tried)
-Can play using a controller
The bad:
-Game breaking bugs
-Unhelpful devs
Diablo 2 was a great game, Diablo 3 was a total failure.
Wolves of Midgard for me is a refreshed version of Diablo 2, but in the Vikings Age :)
+ Pleasant controls
- At times, the character hangs on objects that are not there.
+ Special effects in a reasonable amount.
+ A very pleasant atmosphere of the game.
+ Skill tree legible and understandable.
+ The possibility of expanding the settlement.
Overall a great game, too bad it was not appreciated
i bought this game after reading a lot fo 4/5 stars reviews.
honestly i am a lot disappointed and i am very surprised about those high votes.
This game isnt really bad, its interesting and it may be from 2 to 3 stars in my opinion, i give 2 just to balance a bit the votes which are mostly 5 stars here.
Tbh there are a lot of far better titles of this genre around.
basically this is a cheap diablo III clone, with cheap i mean it offers really a lot less compared to Diablo, or Grim Down or Path of Exile.
ofc if you are fed up with those titles and whant to try more of the same you can go with this title, but sadly when i started playing diablo with friends there was the feeling of doing something epic, playing this title feels just i am killing some time before going to sleep.
Levels are boring, fights are very boring, bosses are not very nice fights.
The action is very repetitive, the peace is a bit slow, itemization is not impressive at all.
Ok under 10 euros.
The mechanical choices implemented here are baffling.
Why does experience need to be collected? Why does it insist on looping around my character before being collected, even when I stand still on it? Why do I need to run to campfires nigh incessantly? Why do I run so slowly? Why is the checkpointing this way? Why make healing so inconvenient via totems that must be recharged instead of dropping potions,or simply giving healing a longer cooldown with no resources to collect?
This line of inquiry goes on and on. I adore ARPG's and will give any one of them a shot, but this was shockingly off-putting from right out of the gate. Combat is also tedious and skill customisation is stunted and bone dry.
This game seems designed to test the patience and resolve of a zen bhuddist acolyte.
We live in a world where Grim Dawn exists;play that gem instead.
Wanna play a game with a viking? go play Rune.
Wanna play this kind of RPG? go play Path of Exile or Diablo II.
Yeah, I might be harsh on this kind of game, but Blizzard made Diablo II more than 15 years ago and it's still a reference.
So, what is wrong with this game?
First of all the controls, I'm playing with an Xbox360 controller and trying to avoid hits too late, why? because you got to use the same finger for attacking and avoiding.
another exemple? When your rage is full, you got to press LB and RB to activate it, but LB is also the button to heal, so half of the time I want to activate the rage I also lose a charge of heal.
one last exemple, to avoid, you got to push the right analog in the direction, but pressing it gets the map in the middle of the screen...
appart from that the gameplay sounds like a copy of any game of the genre, I mean, without originality at all.
oh, yes, there is something original, while in levels your character starts to freeze and got to go back to a firecamp before freezing to death, that's just freaking annoying. New, alright, but annoying.
levelling is a freaking joke, you got 6 things that you can up by one percent every level. It's miserable.
Graphism are... correct at best.
story is not interesting. But let's face it, we don't play this kind of game for its story.
I bought this game hoping for a Dark Alliance-like experience, I was wrong.
