Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

I Don't what i could say this far into the review and purchase bandwagon here on GOG. if you want a heart warming recommendation to the game: you don't need me for it......the game and its lore base has quite enough fans as it is to rightfully praise it. if its excellent enough to get entire gaming communities up from their chairs cheering: then you can expect no less of a heartwarming recommendation from me: as a fan or traditional role playing games,the world of darkness lore,the vampire the masquerade books and literature and the games that inspired its inception. i'm sure most people here told you about how great it is and how imperative it is to patch it unofficially to get the best result and playback. but what they didn't tell you is that modding for this game? turns this game from a flawed masterpiece into the holy grail of the vampire role playing genre. mods like the clan quest mod that masterfully combine unofficial patching with unofficial mods(one of which added,the companion mod: is necessary if you wanna share the vampirism with your own fledgling in this game),the final nights and antitribu mods that add the middle eastern bloodlines into the game in place of the camarilla ones,each with their own unique disciplines and abilities and the camarilla edition which acts as a wonderful enhancement in it of itself....you must experience this game patched,but there is no greater feeling in it then when it is modded. all in all: if your still hovering over the buy button hoping to decide whether to buy this or not,don't: buy this game! buy it like you would buy a lifetime supply of water bottles before the apocalypse and get it modded in multiple installations. you would regret it,fledgling :)

I was very pleased with this game. It is pretty original although the look of it is a bit out dated. The vampire theme gave the creators fun additions to this game that others lack. The tutorial part is a little long in the beginning but well done. The interaction and dialog makes you feel like you're really in L.A. The game installed well and although I read of several glitches, I have not experienced any yet after 5 hours of play. If you like RPG fighting games, you best get this one.

Having had a few false starts on this game for the past year and finally sticking to it and completing the game - wow. It shows age through its combat - I had input problems firing weapons with my mouse - but voiceacting, story, and the RPG elements make up for it hundredfold. I can definitely see myself playing through the story and quests again - and again and again and again - you get it. The options offered through the clan you select at the beginning of the game, along with the choice of which skills you can strengthen, completely change the gameplay and approach from character to character. I played with Wesp's patch and only encountered a few crashes, which is pretty good for such an extensive RPG. Anyhow, as someone who has never been fond of vampire-related stories or locations, this game captivated me like few others have managed to do.

I don't want to take to long to write a review because it will cut into my available playing time. But this is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I'm using the unofficial plus patch as recommended by some of the reviews, and it's a great choice.
