Fun and Spooky

I have been needing a classic point-and-click adventure game. The puzzles are challenging, but not frustrating. I love the spooky theme, and the cutscenes have just enough horror elements to make it feel like an interactive movie. I am excited to play Part 2!

One of the Best HOG's

One of the best HOG's I played. Story and cutscrenes are great. To bad in cut up into 3 games. But this first part is not too short. but the cliff hanger will want to to get the next part for sure.

EOS added.. Unity AND Google analytics..

1/5 (?/5 if not for EOS and overkill on analytics) Currently still playing this game and will update review with whatever good and bad I find when finished with it. For now making this review to inform and warn others that the game contain not only the very invasive EOS but also doubles up on analytics using not just Unity but also Firebase (google) analytics. Overkill much?? For Linux users be aware that cutscenes will NOT work on proton. Use wine/wine GE instead. BE AWARE that this game uses EOS! This was just added which changed file executable names and caused some havoc and non working game in an update. The devs escuse and 'reasoning' for this: "Hello! This is the developers' choice for supporting cross-platform projects. " Which is utter nonsense sry. Its not all needed to work for cross platform. I kinda have little patience or respect by now for devs who want to use that reasoning and ignore the loud cries of warning from players and dont bother to educate themsefl on the matter. I hope they will reconsider and remove it again? Instead of using a tool that steals our data and sells to third parties because that IS what EOS does! Unity logs are also being generated and stored in the 'archivedevents' folder, hiding somewhere in ur LocalLow/ Goblinz Enterprises/ True Fear 1/ Unity/ longweirdname /archivedevents. You can safely change folder permission of the archivedevents folder and set it to view/read only. Be sure to delete whatever logs it already generated before you do this if you care about privacy all the way, it generates a lot. Also note that on new updates another new twin folder is created for analytics which you will need to do the same steps on too, and EOS is installed. The new folder is called TrueFear1 and is also in ur locallow. You can also revoke access on the unity analytic dll's and set them to read/view only, and look into blocking unity domains in ur host file/firewall. Always back up save file first, and note that some occasional games might fidget and not work right with these 2 steps because they want that data badly. Its very rare for me to find that so far tho and I always do this myself. Additional info, on the latest update it also installed ShaderVariantAnalytics next to the unity analytics folder. And the third party unity plugin, the odin inspector tools, seem to have been removed.(some minor controversies and things up for debate with that one, overall not a third party project that should be supported and used in my personal oppinion) ═══════ EOS is sometimes snuck into our games under the guise of being there to help with epics online multiplayer services. I wonder what its doing in offline singleplayer games then? It is very much known to leech data from our entire device and any connected drives, clogging up internet speed and taking up resources. I dont care if devs say they dont know about it, that its just there to help with 'epic services' or w/e. It is one of the most widespread data leech spyware programs in games, its proven to be, and even if its 'currently' inactive in that game, it CAN and often DOES get activated at any given point. It is spyware and malware in every sense of the word and reported as such by most security scanners, even as a trojan with fingerprinting which should greatly concern everyone. Why does a single player offline game want to use something that sends our data to Epic/ third parties without our knowledge and permission? To have this on ur machine = net, privacy and data loss! If u choose to trust them and/or dont care, go ahead and leave it be. If not you might want to remove EOSSDK-win64-shipping.dll. It is hiding in your plugin folder. My data and privacy is certainly none of your business. Additionally you can look into blocking the epics domains in your firewall or host file for increased privacy. This might break some games as some devs will do whatever they can to get that data and inject sneaky hindrances to block you out. I have rarely come across this myself but always backup save files first to be safe. ═══════ Only played a little of it so far but its decent so far. Will update with more when done but the rating will remain as long as EOS is present. And 2 points deducted for the use of TWO analytic engines which is just plain rude and respectless imo. I hope my data and privacy was worth my trust+ the 1 star instead of the ? I would have otherwise given u. If I get the other games it will be on a huge discount now only. I hope they will reconsider their treatment of their players and respect our privacy. 🐧 Arch Linux EndeavourOS
