This game was clearly made with passion. You can see the proof of this almost everywhere. The 2D environments are colorful and enchanting, gameplay feels smooth and polished, not to mention the absolutely huge and very diversified world in which you can spend many hours just exploring. Treasure Adventure Game casts you in the role of a young boy who lands on an island that is a fragment of what was once a continent, destroyed in the war between a demon and a wizard. You accept quests, travel across the oceans, and generally have a bang-up time of being a little boy in a big world, out there looking for treasure and adventure. Your equipment consists of a hat, a parrot, and a boat that appears whenever you touch water. Combine those with the basic platforming abilities like jumping and crawling that you’re familiar with from every platforming game ever, and you’ve got the basics of a phenomenal romp across a huge world filled with treasure, maps, secrets, danger, and triumph.

The music changes with the environments and day-night cycles, enhancing the feel the game is evoking and making you feel immersed in the world as you travel through it. The game has a retro feel, yes, but you really have to see it for yourself to understand what Treasure Adventure Game brings to the table. Since it’s free, of course, there is simply no reason not to!

Treasure Adventure Game was created by Stephen Orlando. He spent over 2 years of his life developing it. When you see the scope and detail in this game, it’s hard to believe that it was created by just one guy. But it was! So if you like it, head over to his website and break that donate button!

CLASSIC old style platform

was very hesitant about even playing this let along installing it, but once I gave it a go and opened my mind to trying it, I instantly loved it, developer put a lot of care into this game and done a great job for first game developed. YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE CONTROLS THOUGH via setup.exe in the actual games folder, EASY TO DO, once done then the game is PLAYABLE as for me I was like what the hell I can't choose anything LOL DO NOT EXPECT GROUND BREAKING GRAPHICS OR any advanced controls, you will be disappointed BUT IF YOU want to play a INDIE game that has GREAT story and Great easy controls once changed then this game is worth playing. IF YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED a game where you have to actually thing unlike todays games then STAY CLEAR or you will struggle as there is no TUTORIAL, you have to play and learn as dev made game off his experience of classic platforms games he and no doubt I and most other gamers also enjoyed playing which were brutal hard but rewarding to master. LOVE IT, great INDIE game

Diamond in the rough

A fun and engaging adventure in a fantastic world. The game takes hold of you in the first 30 minutes of play and you can't stop. Great art and great music. It does suffer from quite a few glitches and crashes though.

Pretty Darn Good

This game isn't perfect. I'm not all of the way through it yet, but already I've come to several parts that were very frustrating. Most often, this was due to being too far from a save point during a difficult section and constantly having to retrace my steps every time I died. Also, there are times in the game that I've felt completely lost as to what I was supposed to be doing or where I was supposed to be going. So a little more direction would have been helpful. However...... Get beyond the few sticking points of this game and what you have is a great example of what has become known as a Metroidvania. I've never really understood where the Castlevania influences are in these games, but the Metroid influence is unmistakable. Game play is typical of these sort of games; you adventure around collecting new equipment that allows you to access areas previously unreachable, in turn granting you access to new equipment. TAG also has a charming story with a surprisingly deep back story that keeps your adventure connected with the history of the land that your exploring. Not since Cave Story or Knytt Stories have I had this much fun in a Metroidvania. The controls do feel a little mushy at times, like the character is wading through waist deep syrup and walking on ice; Super Meat Boy controls these are not. But that and the aforementioned save game locations not always being close enough to a difficult area are really my only grips with this game. To get something this good for free makes this the best deal on GOG right now.

The Legend of Castle Metroid Bros. 2

I can't add anything to the excellent reviews written before mine. This game is worth finishing just for the nostalgic cliches at the end. You can finish it with just the keyboard, but there are some points where I wish I had a joypad. And for all those complaining about crashes on Win 7, run the program as administrator...seriously.
