Its a good game when it works
Tom Clancys Rainbow 6 is a great game(except for two short stealth missions) when it works. There is a multitude of technical problems. First, the graphics there are areas where my modern graphics card with the most recent Nvidia driver has issues properly displaying transparency on windows vines and fences. So then I switched the game to software renderer that causes immediate crashes and is not fixable by using the Rainbow6devicepicker.exe(which essentially does nothing) the settings are stored in the registry when running as a normal user HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ and when as an admin. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Red Storm Entertainment\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six\ so you can fix the graphics bug by using dgvoodo 2. which might cause a bit more instability. Dgvoodoo also fixed a bug where there was no transparency on my laptop where the crosshair and the fence are both black squares. then you can play the game but wait there are at least two levels where the hostages which you must rescue do not spawn in so you must modify the config file for the mission to allow you to beat it with fewer hostages. Dgvoodoo does not cause this I removed dgvoodoo after this to test it and it had the same missing hostage. After fixing these issues, I played through the game and had lots of fun. My Recommendation: Wait for this release to be fixed for modern windows. The game is great but it has too many problems to recommend if you are not willing to spend the time to fix the game yourself. It also does not include Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Mission Pack: Eagle Watch which would provide a complete experience.
