A Classic
Among the Diablo-spawn ARPGS, this one stands out for its creative and incredibly entertaining use of Greek mythology. The quirky, monster-heavy, gods-mingling-with-mortals lore lends itself well to this kind of adventure. Having played more modern versions that seek to iterate on Diablo-- Path of Exile, for example-- I still consider Titan Quest the best of them. Unlike some other reviews, I love Diablo 3 (well, what Diablo 3 became after a year or so), but the setting and characters in TQ are much more interesting to me. Of course, the source material is loaded with potential, and TQ doesn't squander it. It is loot-heavy, sometimes to an overwhelming degree, but that is worlds better than the stingy drops of some games. Like most ARPGS, you'll end up ignoring or filtering out anything below a certain color, but the upgrades are doled out at a satisfying clip. Can't speak to the multiplayer, but this game is worth 20 dollars easy, and at 4.99 it's a steal.
