Garrett, the Master Thief, steps out of the shadows into the City. In this treacherous place, where the Baron’s Watch spreads a rising tide of fear and oppression, his skills are the only things he can trust. Even the most cautious citizens and their best-guarded possessions are not safe from his reach.
As an uprising emerges, Garrett finds himself entangled in growing layers of conflict. Lead by Orion, the voice of the people, the tyrannized citizens will do everything they can to claim back the City from the Baron’s grasp. The revolution is inevitable. If Garrett doesn’t get involved, the streets will run red with blood and the City will tear itself apart.
Garrett never paid the price for anything… until now.

This game is an excellent moody thief game running on a more modern engine and looking good for its age. I had it on steam (via a Disc purchase) and am extreamly glad GOG got it and had it on sale :)
It is a shame that GOG could not get the mac version of it though. :(
As alot of gamers have stated its not as open as the frist 2 PC theif games, but thats most likely due to the fact it was developed for PC & Consoles (same happen with Thief3).
However that is a small grumble when looking at the game on its own merits, which make it stand out from many other games of the time.
Def worth buying on sale.
The latest version of the series supposed to be a new next-gen game, with a character's home base, findings and a controller-like sneak game. Did it work? Totally. The series ran over a serious process of modernization and voilà! Welcome to the new era of gaming Garret...
Actually it is a pretty good game the very few minutes of it that i could play(My laptop is broken, literaly, today my screen told me,fuck it! and broke leaving me with about a tenth of it pixelated)the mechanics are not overwhelming or over the top but the AI is smart, really smart.
Picking each and every thing feels really satisfying (so it does doing each and every action)like picking a treasure from Uncharted; Golden Abyss and i love it,i couldn't get any further in the story so i got nothing to say about or the writting,i never played the original Thief but if it is as good as this one i'll probably pick it up.
It is a game with simple mechanics but in doing so it is really satisfying and rewarding,it is not the action packed sandbox you would expect(you are a thief after all),nonehteless this doesn't make it any less satisfying as a game,my only complains would be the DLC'S.Most of them are purely cosmetic and totally useless(Like Witcher's).
On the plus side you got three everlasting arenas to steal from, so...it is great,in my opinion any good game should come with something like this or just level/maps replay with custom personalization(See battlefront games,Force Unleashed(PsP),Grip...)
Optimization wise...it probably runs great in any pc or laptop but i really can't tell, very few games run in mine anymore so that's up to you i guess.
Do i recomend it,yes, though for hardcore Thief fans i don't know, see for yourselves.
But as said above,it is a really simple game(Like 2005-2015 era) and for being so is amazing,if you are here for the gameplay and not tha GrApHiCs that is.
