Very Myst, in looks, brians, and pain.

It was exactly the game I was looking for in pushing my boundries. I probably did 85% of these on my own, occationally needing a nudge to get the logic they were going for. It loses a star because of some of the unnessary punishments they add. A good example is a puzzle involving an elevator. It's made hard enough going up, but make an error, and it sends you back to the bottom...soooo slowly. There's enough trial and thought to almost all the puzzles that adding a 2min reset to getting it wrong is just punative.

Beautiful, Engaging, and Intellectual

The Witness takes you on a unique journey in which provides beautiful visuals and an engaging gameplay element. One in which is entirely taught by the use of your controller, no rules or tutorials; just you and the environment. There is no story, only dialogue told by visuals and famous quotes by Philosphers, Scientists and Artists from past. I loved every part of this game but I do admit, it gets very hard very quickly; and while accomplishing a puzzle after so much effort is an amazing feeling, some puzzles are so hard. Like very hard. If you don't use a guide at all on this game, I commend you. By the end of the game, I was following a guide through the challenges this game presents, it that hard. But from what I was able to accomplish on my own was extremely rewarding, one in which many little games offer.

Outstanding puzzle game

This game makes the player to think and think. There are hundreds of puzzles that might puzzle you! You have to observe the patterns and even the sight around you to crack the difficult thinigs. If you like to solve the puzzles, then it is for you! However, if you don't like the puzzle, it is mere a puzzle hell.

Do you like drawing lines on grids?

If you like drawing lines on grid patterns, then you'll like this game, because that's all you do in The Witness. The game finds hundreds of different ways for you to figure out and draw correct patterns on grid panels. You have to draw patterns that mimic the surroundings, find the right patterns from reflections, nearby clues, color-coded symbols, etc. My favorite is the patterns that operate moving platforms that allow you to progress. This is an inspired effort where the designers put in a lot of innovative work. The "story," the serene Myst-like environment, the somewhat off-putting FMVs and voiceovers, etc., are all window-dressing for the puzzles. The puzzles are what made this game, and I suspect a sequel is bound to happen, since the possibilities for this style of gameplay seem endless.

Really Fun

Really fun exploratory puzzle game. Nice Scenery and locations. Puzzles are interesting and gradually become more difficult. Only downside is motion sickness, so I cannot play for too long
