There. I Said it, It's true. In my opinion this is the best and most important game in the RPG genre since the Baldurs gate games. And it hasn't been equalled since. Unparalleled on story and engrossing gameplay this is a game where every choice matters in the living world, Although like much in the world, It isn't always instantly apparant. Summary? Buy It!

The title says it all. The dark, mature nature of the original Witcher was the most refreshing experience in RPG gaming in my memory. I never replay games - I just don't. I played The Witcher 3 or 4 times. Do yourself a favor if you're an RPG fan, and play this game!

My time for my favorite hobby is sadly limited. So when I invest my time into a game, it had better be a very special game. The Witcher EE is one such game. I'm not a game reviewer nor do I know a hlll of beans about the game mechanics and balance etc. But I do know what is fun, entertaining, and immersive. The Witcher is all of that and then some. The game for me has the same appeal as the Mass Effect series. So I fondly look forward to finishing the TW2 and the short wait for the TW3.

Never having been even interested in this game, seeing it on half-price sale here on GOG I decided to give it a shot. Truly, even with the good reviews I was totally surprised by how pulled into this game I have become. It has a few quirks that bother me, such as the clunky point and clic fighting style and some of the character models could be improved and more varied, but the story and the game's background is amazing. It pulls you in and never lets go! Looks like I'll be trying Witcher 2 now :)

I play this game on mac mini mid-2011 and it works well on low settings. Too many ennemies on the screen tend to slow the framerate, but as long as it's a game you can play just for the story and not the gameplay, you can pay the gog price eyes closed. It's a fair deal. The Witcher gives us a good story, perhaps not the best for a fantasy setting but hey we're on a videogame, not a novel! Sure, sometime the dialogs seem a little bit tedious, not so polished, but if you pass over the first impression, the story delivers a depth you could easily enjoy.
