The Wheel of Time

For thousands of years the Dark One has been trapped, but now the four seals keeping him imprisoned have been lost. Four organization of opposing beliefs and principles were searching for these seals. The Aes Sedai sisterhood managed to recover three, but one of them was stolen, allegedly by members of a sect within their organization that worshipped the Dark One. Elayna Sedai, Keeper of the Chronicles of the White Tower, has been promoted to the leader of Aes Sedai, and must retrieve the lost seal at all costs.
The Wheel of Time is a fantasy-themed 3D shooter based on the novel series of the same name by Robert Jordan. Combat is ranged, but the player character doesn't use any weapons and instead relies on artifacts called "ter'angreal". There are 40 types of ter'angreal in the game, which can be used for offensive as well as defensive purposes, e.g. shoot lightning and fireball, heal or hide the protagonist in a cloak, etc.

Decidedly Average
There's a reason that many people continued to play Unreal, Deus Ex, Quake and the like and didn't keep playing The Wheel of Time. The game world / maps are mundane and fairly average, the inventory cluttered, the cutscenes extremely long winded, and the enemies bland. I suspect the only reason this game was revitalized was to capitalize on the recent TV show. Legend Entertainment had a reputation for adapting fantasy novels to games with the release of Shannara and Death Gate, I'm not sure why they opted for a FPS this time around, probably because of their success with the Unreal mission pack. Don't get me wrong The Wheel of Time isn't a bad game, it's just not a particularly good one, especially when you stand it up against other FPS titles from the same time period. If you're a die hand fan of the books you've probably already bought this. For everyone else I'd recommend looking elsewhere for your retro FPS satisfaction.

Badly aged shooter with "cartoon" story
So I'm a fan of the books, which is probably the only reason I looked at this. What you get is a shooter with a wheel of time skin, which has aged badly. The story telling was not up to the standard of the source material and reminded me of a children's cartoon. I guess this holds some nostalgia value for some people but offers nothing to a modern gamer, not even fans of the books.

A Stain on the IP
I bought this game WAY back when it first came out... and back then I thought it was crap. To see players being charged near $10 for this now is bad, but to see 5 star reviews of it, boggles me. This was bad for 1999 standards, and has little to do with the actual story from the books. You fling spells in bad graphics from 25 years ago. There, I saved you a few dollars.

Crash on Save
Seems like it could be a fun game, except for the fact it hard crahes on save about 1/10 times
