For thousands of years the Dark One has been trapped, but now the four seals keeping him imprisoned have been lost. Four organization of opposing beliefs and principles were searching for these seals. The Aes Sedai sisterhood managed to recover three, but one of them was stolen, allegedly by members of a sect within their organization that worshipped the Dark One. Elayna Sedai, Keeper of the Chronicles of the White Tower, has been promoted to the leader of Aes Sedai, and must retrieve the lost seal at all costs.
The Wheel of Time is a fantasy-themed 3D shooter based on the novel series of the same name by Robert Jordan. Combat is ranged, but the player character doesn't use any weapons and instead relies on artifacts called "ter'angreal". There are 40 types of ter'angreal in the game, which can be used for offensive as well as defensive purposes, e.g. shoot lightning and fireball, heal or hide the protagonist in a cloak, etc.

Fun, but not quite stable
Nearly as fun as I remember it, but with some serious stability issues on my computer (Windows 11, RTX 3060). The first few levels were playable, but after level four the game started crashing at least once every level.

An Early Favorite
So much fun playing this game with a friend all those years ago. I'll likely never play again but bought it anyway so I'll have it in my library. Was reading Jordan when this game came out. What an amazing time.

Ambitious and well-crafted, yet dated
I had no previous knowledge on The Wheel of Time series when I started this game, so I came to it with an open mind, allowing it to surprise me. While I still don't get much of its lore, what this title had to offer felt honestly fresh and unique, specially its particular approach to magic and arcane secrets, shrouded in a mystery aura that I haven't seen all that often in modern takes on fantasy. I also appreciated the quality of its dialogues, both excellently written and performed, something that took me back to the Legacy of Kain series. Its soundtrack is top notch as well. Unfortunately, this game's gameplay lost me in the middle of my run. It presents many common issues from other games built in the first Unreal Engine, but here they felt more aggravating. The lack of accuracy with most of its spells, along with the enemy's tendency to dodge almost every first shot, made combat feel a lot harder than it needed to be. Also those shielded knights and enemy sorceresses proved to be the bain of my existence. Long story short, The Wheel of Time is the kind of game that would really benefit from a Nightdive remaster treatment to make its gameplay a little more accessible. It's a shame, because that was the only element that prevented me from fully enjoying what's otherwise a genuinely well-crafted product. Too bad it remains chained by the gameplay conventions of its time.

Old School but Fun
You have to remember this is a game from the 90s. There is som compatibility jank, and the game itself is perhaps harder than it should be, but the game is fun and the story is intresting. Absolutly worth checking out. (Also fun is messing with the old cheat codes, which also still work!)
