Holder of numerous awards and accolades, the Swapper is an atmospheric puzzle platformer set in the furthest reaches of space. Players wield an experimental device able to clone the user and swap control between them. Dropped into a character and world as mysterious as the workings of the device itself, The Swapper is a game of exploration of a very personal nature.
All of the art in The Swapper is constructed using clay models and other everyday materials.
The Swapper is supported by Indie Fund.
Fiendish puzzles whose solutions are only ever a few steps away.
A thought-provoking story set in an eerie sci-fi world filled with atmosphere of mystery and isolation.
Narrative design from Tom Jubert, writer behind such indie hits as Penumbra and FTL.
A visually stunning hand-crafted world built out of clay.
Beautiful, dark graphics. Incredible lighting. A great new story. A perfectly-fit soundtrack makes you feel like you're in space. Fun puzzles. An overall great game.
This game is one of the best games I have ever played, no exaggeration. The story is amazing, starting you out in this strange alien world, and as you go on, you see the themes in this awe inspiring story. The story is not just a series of events but holds much, much deeper meaning, it's a story that will leave you thinking. The game holds an enigmatic and foreboding tone that is accented by beautiful, literally "handcrafted" graphics and an immersive sound track. The gameplay may not be for those who do not like puzzles, but can be extremely satisfying. The Swapper is an sensational game that will get you thinking. BTW if you loved the Ender's game series I'm almost sure you'll love this game.
I don't usually play much puzzle games, but this one I enjoyed. The intriguing puzzles, handcrafted graphics and atmospheric soundtrack make such an lasting impression that's hard to shake off.
The game length is just right, as the concepts were explored throughly without repetition.
To think that 3 college students made this in their spare time is utterly astounding. The gameplay revolves around creating clones of yourself and swapping consciousness between them to solve puzzles. The mechanics are solid and the puzzles are very well done, but it will feel familiar if you've played any major puzzle platformer within the last few years (Braid, Limbo, etc). Don't get me wrong, it's great to play, just not entire unique in terms of gameplay. What is unique, however, is the way the visual style, sound design and storytelling all come together to make a game that is absolutely oozing with atmosphere. The story is purposefully left very hazy, and it will take a lot of exploration and thought to piece it all together (something I still have not done). Absolutely worth the price, and I cannot wait to see what Facepalm manages to do for their next project.
