This is a very good game from my childhood, but I thought that this one u sell now is some new reedition of the old game, but seems not... the old version works not on notebooks on fullscreen, so if it is an original 14-year old game, give it rather free... It should be released as HD version with better graphics and new features, then we can talk about buying...
I was hesitant to get the game because many reviews mentioned it does not work on Windows 10; but the game technically "worked" for me. I am using Windows 10 Home build 10.0.18362 on an Intel NUC6i7KYB (i7-6770HQ) using an eGPU (Akitio Node with EVGA 1080 SC) and 16GB of Corsair SODIMM.
The game plays nicely in full screen and at the original resolutions (I found no support for changing it in game).
The reason for the two-star review is the complete and utter lack of online multiplayer. Not that the feature isn't implemented; it is. No, instead, because ubisoft decided to INTENTIONALLY BREAK that aspect of the product for any game not running via uplay.
Clicking on "Multiplayer" and then "Internet" opens the browser on the page http://www.bluebyte.net/settlers4/lobby/browser_check.asp, which then redirects to https://bluebyte.ubisoft.com/settlers4/lobby/browser_check.asp, and simultaneously closes the game.
So, *if* the LAN multiplayer works (I haven't tested it), it is maybe possible for people to play over the Internet using a VPN to emulate an actual LAN; but there are countless other nice games available (like Empire earth 2, that has a complete mod available at https://ee2.eu/patch/#download), so unless you have to *specifically* buy Settlers 4, just boycott ubisoft for this anti-consumer move and buy any other game from GoG.
