The single player experience is not fun anymore after the 2.0 update. You will spend a lot of time NOT doing research because you cannot afford the cost of resources. You will run out of tower ammo in a fight because they changed how much you can store. You will run out of ammo for you guns in a fight because they limited your ammo.
You will have enemies of OP you cannot be on the same screen as them without getting shredded. Yes fighting an Omega enemy they you cannot see, what fun.
Exor did the worst thing possible to the single player game. As you progress you feel WEAKER.
I loved this game, I have played through the base game on "Brutal" with low resources many times.
I hope they fix the balance for single player.
One of the best examples of open-strategy games.
A mix of 4x and tower defense, it never punishes you for playing the game the way you want - its not a puzzle, its an open-ended strategy game to play out as you see fit.
You begin on a single map with basic construction capabilities, and must research new technology, mine new resources, expand your base across new regions, and ultimately complete a rift station back to earth to allow colonisation of the new planet you've found yourself on.
There's a fantastic range of economic options across different types of resources and tiers of extraction equipment. And if a resource pool runs dry, the game never punishes you - a comet will invariably crash land with fresh resources. .
You also have research and manufacturing for weapons and Mech features to improve your ability to fight and discover the inhabitants of the new world.
Each new map area comes with its own range of creatures as threats, and even once you've eliminated them and set up a base of operations, you move into a tower defence mode, with larger and more dangerous waves of attacks.
You have warning of new waves (which may be single or multiple directions) so you can prepare additional defenses in the shape of walls and barriers, weapons, shields, auto-repairs etc.
There's a complex without complicated economy you can manage - systems to produce ammunition for different types of defense towers, mud pumps feeding water filtration systems and lines of pipes carrying fresh water to various base structures that need cooling
The story mode is relatively thin until the end game where you ultimately build the rift station back to Earth. At this point the game takes on a truely epic sense of achievement as each of the final pieces of the puzzle (or rather, machinery) are produced and fall into place.
Thoroughly recommended to get the game plus all DLC, which adds new biomes, monsters, resources, base elements etc.
I really enjoyed Riftbreaker.
Nice graphics (5K ultra detail resolution, GPU 6800XT), good story, lots of base work, three research trees, really many kinds of weapons and equipment types for Mr. Riggs.
If you like action/strategy games and you love "towers" buy this one. It's fun, and there are maaaaaannnnnnyyyy monsters 😉
This is an incredibly fun action/resource management/tower defense game! I haven't bought it here (yet), because I originally played it on my Xbox Series X, but a low to mid tier PC should play this title pretty well. The Deluxe version comes with all of the DLC and three different soundtracks. (Read the actual description...the comparison to the base game is missing the DLC, but it's in there!) You travel to multiple different worlds, with very different biomes, collecting powerups and resources, all while setting up bases, that you have to defend from swarms of enemies. You'll also have to repair/replace barriers and weapons that get damaged from the weather, which can vary quite a bit, depending on the biome. And if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure all of the maps are procedurally generated, so the replayability is quite high. I've played through the entire campaign once, and plan on taking another shot at it very soon. I can't wait to see what EXOR comes up with next!
Game has two expansions\ dlc, but the Deluxe Edition only has the base game and the soundtrack in three formats? How is this a Deluxe Edition by any means?
