C&C + TA & factorio fans rejoice

This game was inspired by Command and conquer, and total annihilation with bits of rpg upgrade and tech research elements present. This game stands on it's own, because of a unique feature done differently. That is the collection of resources and ingame economy management. You have a main base, you have outposts. Resources are fed from mainbase/outposts via rifts. This allows multiple areas in campaign to serve as resource hubs feeding the main base. That said, the game has enough story, dialog, and bio's about your environment to be it's own game and experience. With promise of multiplayer coming down the pipe 1-2yrs from now(I'm estimating a 2.5yr mark as things never go right for mp), this game shows real promise. The campaign can be run through in about 7-12hrs depending on how you pace your self. Don't mixup survival mode with campaign. It is a entirely different experience and approach needed to win. Devs are taking feedback and making improvements constantly. As of this post the game went from 1.33 to 1.38 which... is alot of updates being pushed to fix issues. Anyway onto pros and cons Pros: - Hands down builder/exploration Sim - Promise of multiplayer, when it comes even better - DRM FREE, actually no telemetry, you choose it at crash/bug submission - Unique take on resources management and collection Cons: - Waiting on the free multiplayer is rough - Lag and fps lag exists but requires in some cases console commands or a save and reload to remove fps lag - May crash, thankfully auto save exists, crashed 1x out of 200hrs of gameplay on my part (going in and out of system hibernation/standby) - Highly addictive and immersive, I lost touch with reality took a day off work because I couldn't stop playing All this said it's a fun experience, before you buy it play the demo, that will hands down give you a idea if you do or don't want to buy it, I think it's worth it though but these games are completely up my alley

When Total Annihilation meets Diablo

I´ve played through the campaign and had 30 hours of fun. Mostly. Downsides were: - bugs remain; e.g. couldn´t achieve a mission goal (build building XY) which i already had until i built another one - not everything feels balanced, some weapons are just bad while some are (too good); same for enemies - base building tends to get overly complicated once pipelines need to be built - gets a bit repetetive after a while - the jump from tech 1 til you get wind generators tech 2 is too large imho. they use up a LOT of space; same for solar panels plus energy storages. too much space! - once you get your home base self sufficient, there is nothing else to do but wait until the storages fill up... but the big plusses are: - combat feels like Diablo in space, some enemies are imho clearly inspired by Diablo - base building and general design reminds me of Total Annihilation - graphics are superb, with raytracing etc - soundtrack is good - the mixing of base building, combar, suit modification, resource management is well done So, not a perfect game, but VERY good genre mix.

An impressive mix of genre

The Riftbreaker is a very impressive mix of genre : Action RPG, tower defense, base building and survival game. All this delivered with stunning and modern isometric graphics. Ray traced shadow and ambient occlusion, stunning colours. It's all there, to the exception of HDR ... which is a shame, but arguably, still a rare thing on PC. For the game itself, it has a great pace, gives you quite the freedom while offering you a campaign, and the game loop is fantastic. Exploration, discovery, research, and a lot of mobs to fight. It's quite literally a frankenstein of Diablo, Total Annihilation, and They are Billions, and it's fantastic and it is on GoG. It's actually everywhere, which is a rare thing that deserves praise. Xbox, PS5, Xbox Game Pass, Steam, EGS, and obviously, the best of it all, GoG. It even has a demo !!! in 2021, a demo. This simply highlights the total confidence the developers have in their product, and I'd say they have every rights to. It's not THE perfect game, the story and protagonist are forgetable (though not bad by any stretch, just nothing to lose sleep over), the game could use a better way than hints to explain you some of its complex mechanics, and some mechanics could be improved. But I honestly have total confidence all of this will be ironed out. What I have now is a game with very few bugs, a finished product at launch, and hours that morph to minutes when I start playing.

New take on Base Building

Cool new entry to the resource management/base building genre. Felt like Supreme Commander style with controlling the giant robot but is actually able to kick alien but. Enjoyed the exploration and building portions of the game. Disappointed with replayability of the game. After competing the story it becomes a tedious grind of filling out the resource notebook. Was really hoping for a non-story mode style play mode but that doesn't seem to exist. Sandbox should allow exploration to other regions but doesn't and survival is just a countdown to a big battle with no end game mechanics unless you are good at building within the time limit.

Lightly flawed but excellent

The RiftBreaker is a small gem of a game that took his idea, did it pretty well and only lacked some polish in the UI department. You pilot a fighting/building mecha with a LOT of various available weapons, from the sword to trident, hammer, power fist, to the nuke launcher, acid spewer, mortar, minigun or some other destructive idea came in devs mind. You gather ressource to build a base to protect with a strong amount of turret (similar to weapons) from basic "laser" one to plasma, mine drone, attack drone, teleporting bomb, heavy artillery, etc. . . All while needing to expand and research better and better tool to wreck havoc in the HUGE waves of various monster coming to get you, in a joyous fest of gore and explosion of any kind. Only downside : UI is sometimes not very responsive and the mods list is quickly bloated. And it miss a coop mode. But hey, it's coming for both ! Props to the devs, coop mode, Ui rework, weapon overhaul and end-game super objective is coming ! TL;DR : Excellent game with a fun core loop, nicely done, pretty to watch and enough differences in biome to keep the fun coming.
