THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 was released in 2002 and is still highly praised around the world to this day thanks to its return to the Series’ ”3-on-3 battle” flagship system, the numerous fan favorite characters returning in this 2002 year iteration, and its game balance. Thanks to the introduction of the “Quick Evasion” and “Max Activation” game mechanics, battles get even more exciting and intense.
everything is too fast at 144 hertz, and it's annoying to set the desktop refresh rate lower each time you want to play. Also, don't expect any conviences in this, it's an emulator and you can't rebind the controls. HOW
A clumsy port that only detected my controller the second time I started it up. The keyboard controls are nonsense, and the controller experience isn't amazing but is somewhat functional. You cannot rebind any controls, as you would on any basic emulator. The only video options are fullscreen and tiny window. The gameplay itself feels old and a bit unresponsive, but maybe it's just not reading my XBox controller well... Newer variants in the series (and indeed, other franchises too) feel better to play, and offer a lot more features.
I'm unable to use a controller with this game. I 'm using it under Linux with a PS3 Dualshock controller and Xboxdrv driver that works perfectly with other games but this game doesn't recognize it, what makes it unplayable. What a pity.
I'm so glad I got this for free. This port is the kind of thing that encourages people to turn to piracy. It's not even a port. It's an emulator with a bad loader. Heck, if you look into the game's folder, you'll find the ROM's ZIP files.
The best way to use this is to buy it and take those ZIP files and place them within the ROMs folder of an actually capable emulator like MAME or something... And then go ahead and play this online with Kaillera.
The emulator that comes with this has no button remapping, no 2-player support at all, no online, no training mode, no gallery, nothing. It runs the arcade ROM with an emulator. Heck, with a different emulotor, you can at least run the home version.
They should be ashamed to release a game like this. It's a joke of a release.
This is why emulators are more popular than re-releases like this.
There're soo many options to tweak in emulators, some even sporting better graphics (at least filters), but most of all in this case control customizations.
I suppose this is an emulator itself, but a poorly-made emulator with very restricted options, with shiny UI.
I would buy KOF 98 UM on PC if only they include all the PS2 enhancements (widescreen, 3d background, enhanced music).
But to my suprise, they didn't.
And after trying how horrible this 2002 port is, I won't touch any PC ports of the Neo Geo games, like ever.
But nevertheless I got this one for free, so beggars can't be chooser right?
