It’s the year 1400- the late Middle Ages. Europe sees the dawn of the golden age of the new departures and the free spirit. Under the rule of the bourgeoisie and businessmen, more and more towns are emerging from the clutches of the aristocracy and are achieving independence, power and wealth. New businesses are flourishing, bringing financial strength and political influence to a growing economy.
However, life in the narrow, overpopulated alleyways and streets of the towns also has its downsides: epidemics and diseases are spreading, and thieves and highwaymen lie in wait to get their piece of the wealth. Now you can try your hand in these exciting times of change. Will you head down the path of an honest craftsman or a dubious priest? It’s your choice.

Retro Go-To
I found this game by chance in the early 2000s (it was old then). Regularly return to it. GOG installation ensures it runs smoothly without needing to tweak coomputer or game settings.

Excellent medieval economic sim
Always enjoyed this game since I first played it about 20 years ago. Lots to do, each playthrough's a bit different. Very addicting

One of the best games I've ever played
I've owned this game for around 20 years now, and there's still loads in it that I haven't done - huge fan of it, and of course with the Guild 2 the series only get better. Definitely an older title but worth a go if youve got the patience, I have over 200 hours in the game on the CD Rom, the multiplayer is great if you can get it to work, so many different career paths, goals to get yourself and your dynasty... this one has always felt the most authentic of the series to me, while the later instalments always felt a little bit shallow this has depth in spades, and the expansion only adds to it - highly recommended.

GOG failing their users again....
I'm sure it's a great game but the GOG version is almost unplayable. Whenever any menus are on screen, the game becomes extremely laggy, making it very tedious to interact with said menus, which is literally what gameplay is about. I'll try the Steam version next. From what I've seen, it might be better.
