Amazing adventure with a sinister plot

I have to say that i quite loved this game. The main character is adorable and the NPCs surrounding her are also remarcable. The viallage where the story take place is somewhere i would love to live in. The puzzle for the most part are very use but the last part, they are very good and a bit on the hard side, just how i love them. Much has been said about the ending for me it worked and i loved it. Thomasina being so lovely makes the dread, desperation and horror so much more alive. I won´t lie when i say that i would love a second game or another taking place in the same universe.

Normally I don't enjoy Point&Click Adv.

I finished my second session and played this game now for about 3 hours. And I enjoy it and grows more and more on me. The puzzles are fair, one need a bit of brain power, but not to much. You have to think, but it never gets frustrating. Also it's very good that there are only to interactions: look/describe and use/do - use can be 'use', can be 'give', can be 'combine' ... that makes it so easy to do things. The Village and the characters are well done, it even has voice acting, and the pixel style is charming. Worth the price and time.

A solid narrative

Hob’s Barrow is a short mystical tale for in between. The characters and dialogues are convincing, and the distinctive dialect is a pleasure to listen to. The locations are charming, and the puzzles are logical and not difficult. In my opinion, the story itself is told a little too indirectly. The protagonist’s journal entries give too much of the story away, giving the impression that you are following a predetermined path, which takes away from the feeling of actually being on a mystical journey of discovery. That aside, the story is moving enough to linger in your mind for a while, and I enjoyed playing through Hob’s Barrow.

A mysterious adventure on the Moors

A very classic point and click game with an intruging storyline. You play as a barrow digger Thomasina Bateman, a grave digger archeologist basically, trying to find and excavate Hob's Barrow. However, this will be easier said than done... Known to be a local landmark, some of the locals seem to never have heard of it while others won't talk much of it... A darker adventure game for those looking for some suspense and mystery. You'll have to do all the classic fun point and click adventure stuff. Talking to interesting characters, collecting items and using them creatively. A strong point of the game is that the puzzles are logical and well thought out and the game will sometimes surprise you with what you think will be a simple solution that just requires a bit more thinking. All in all, a very worthwhile adventure game for people who like adventures with a darker atmosphere.
