The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

So far, it is really hard considering that it's an oldie and lack of character development. But other than that, it's good, action-wise.

Daggerfall is what you get when you take the Elder Scrolls and DnD and blend them together, its an open-world non-linear Elder Scrolls game where you take the reigns of your character's storyline with the main quest being optional (of course if you want to see the ending you'll need to not miss a deadline). What I love about that is simple: you are some nobody in the world without a specific faction alignment, goal, or pre-assigned class; you are a nobody who can become someone and, unlike later Elder Scrolls games, you aren't some prophetic hero or divinely sent agent, you are merely someone sent by the emperor to recover something that was lost (but you can ignore those orders if you want to). All that combined with a world that is randomly generated and you get characters who not only play differently but also have distinct worlds and dungeons with nearly limitless questing to be had. Gameplay wise: if you are familiar with Morrowind's combat system, you'll find DF's system to feel very similar for better or worse. Quests, unlike later Elder Scrolls titles, are time-based so you need to determine what quests are worth taking/ignoring since you can easily miss your timeline for slaying or delivering items, there are mods to make this easier to keep track of and I recommend looking into them. On the technical side: GOG hosts Daggerfall Unity but their hosted build is outdated, use this game's files on the latest version of DF Unity to get better performance and substantial bug-fixes. I also recommend the mod: Roleplay and Realism since it makes the game feel more alive. So overall? I'd say give Daggerfall a try, it's free and with Unity you can make the game feel far more modern and complex, just be sure to get DF Unity from Github or another hosting site for the most up-to-date version.

This game is still up in my top 5 of favorite games ever.
