Mick Carter's been drifting a while now- moving from job to job, never staying one place long. Jumping a box-car to his old home town, he witnesses a violent murder, is pursued by hi-tech soldiers, thrown in a reservoir and drowned.
And that's just the start of Mick's problems.
His consciousness ripped away, thrust back into his own body seconds before his death...
Framed for the killing he witnessed, tormented by his own past, and haunted by the feeling that something followed him back from the other side...
Follow Mick as he's sucked headfirst into a lunatic web of shadowy corporations, murder, and the thousand-year obsession of a madman.
The Drifter is our take on a classic 2d point and click adventure, with the brake-lines cut. The focus is on fast-paced storytelling, with puzzle-solving being the glue that ties it together. Mick's a practical guy, and so puzzles are down-to-earth too, designed to be unobtrusive, and give an investigative feel.
We're keeping the pacing quick and lean, you'll never be wandering around lost or confused- Mick is propelled through the story at a good clip, from one situation to another, with barely a moment to catch his breath. One minute you'll be crafting a Molotov cocktail from a bottle of over-proof rum, the next interrogating a crooked neurosurgeon before swinging from a high-rise window by a fraying extension lead.

The Drifter is a new standard in point and click adventures and deserves to be spoken about in the same breath as the very best the genre has to offer. The look, sound, and feel of the game are all superb and it tells a story that never stops being thrilling. All in all, it's an essential purchase for anybody who has even a passing interest in the genre.

Trippy Conspiracy Fever Dream
Beautiful pixel art, great music, trippy story but ultimately very entertaining if you enjoy sci-fi concepts, and enough heart to ground it with a message about loss. Great VAs give the characters a lot of color, and the faact the game is fully voiced was a great surprise that helps the density of the plot go down easier. The puzzles aren't always very intuitive, but looking for non-standard solutions is part of the point of the narrative and I appreciate that they force you to think beyond the obvious answers. All in all, very entertaining ride with more than enough plot-twists to keep you hooked all the way to its conclusion.

Excellent modern adventure game
I'm not a big fan of pixel art or adventure games, but this game pulled me in with its style and mood, and I was not disappointed. Firstly, the pixel art. I don't have much nostalgia for pixel art, even though I grew up with PC games in the 90s. Most pixel art games would be more aesthetically pleasing to me in higher res, and this game is no exception. But, the art is top notch with very effective lighting effects and killer animation and sound effects. I played my share of adventure games in the 90s and used to think I had nostalgia for them, but eventually realized I really didn't; they were just what was big back then. They were often full of nonsensical puzzles that would waste hours of time frustrating me. The Drifter has learned from those old games and made the genre much more enjoyable. Puzzles make sense, are not overly complicated, and fit naturally into the narrative. I really appreciated how objects would cease to be interactive when no longer useful, instead giving hover-over text to let you know not to waste your time worrying about it any more. Key story points are available in the top bar, so if you step away from the game for a while you don't feel lost when you pick it back up again. Chapters give a nice sense of progression and make the story more cinematic. Speaking of story, it is very good. I won't give spoilers, but the game mechanics tie into the story very nicely, in a way I've never seen before. The voice acting is second to none, and did as much as the animation to make up for the pixel art. I loved the Aussie accents. The lead character is a joy to listen to, and all the supporting characters are excellently voiced as well. If I could give half stars I'd rate this at 4.5/5, and that half point is only because it's pixel art. If you like pixel art, it's a 5/5 :-) Excellent game that raises the bar for the genre. I'll be watching closely for this studio's next release!

Fantastic Point and Click adventure
Solid storyline, very engaging characters, excellent mystery that slowly unravels. I never felt lost, with enough breadcrumbs leading to the next discovery.
