This and the first one are pretty nice adventure games. Good dark atmosphere yet funny. Not frustrating. Not exceedingly easy. And playing effortlessly on Linux is a really good bonus.
...if you can stand the constant barrage of witty one liners. If this doesn't bother you, than this is a good puzzle adventure game, with good mechanics, lovely graphics and music and a decent, but not excellent, interface. I started to use a controller after a while because I was tired of too much clicking.
Very enjoyable follow up to Darkside Detective, quite a step up from the first, admittedly very good adventure game.
I like the episodic 'levels', the self contained adventures. It works.
Some might prefer an overarching storyline and game, but I really like how this works. Some of the episodes I enjoyed more than others, but they were all very well done,
aside from the politically charged reference to the black and tans, in the third episode, which was highly out of place, I thought, the whole game fits together really well.
The interface and loading of scenes is quick and responsive. There are plenty of achievements to unlock,
the graphics have improved the second time out with some lovely cut scenes. Overall this is an excellent adventure,
though I am not sure why the developer chose to have other characters follow McQueen around, as they seem to just be there, and I would like to save when I want to, not autosaves, but that gripe aside I thoroughly enjoyed 100%-ing both adventures.
A Fumble in the dark is a typical sequel, it doesn't create nothing new, but it delivers more of the same goodness that made the first one an enjoyable experience.

I played the first Darkside Detective game and found it fun and hilarious, but unfortunately I can't say the same about the sequel. I feel the puzzles were simplified in this one to make it easier than the original which made the game boring and unfun. I also loved the wit and satire in original game, but most of the jokes in this one are bland and unfunny. I may have gotten a few chuckles while playing A Fumble In The Dark, but none of those luagh out moments I experienced through out the original. I also found the dialogue too political . Many of the jokes bash capitalism, cops, and religion, so they felt preachy instead of funny. I forced myself through the entire game hoping it would get better but unfortunately it didn't, which does not inspire me to play future games in this series.
