I've sailed the seas from Trinidad to Tortuga and I've never seen anything like it! The engagement ring I gave Elaine has a terrible pirate curse on it. LeChuck is behind it, I'm sure. I should have known that nothing good could come out of that evil zombie's treaures. And if that's not bad enough, the clairvoyant I met in the mangrove swamp told me that if I am to break the curse and save Elaine, I will have to die!

It has its charm
The humor and story are pretty well done. There are jokes galore and the story makes a certain kind of sense until the Big-lipped Alligator that is the final act. Unfortunately, like many of the games in this genre, the puzzles are ridiculously obtuse at times. A clever solution should leave you saying, "I should have thought of that!" when you finally get it (or look it up). Far too many puzzles had me saying, "I'm supposed to do what?!" It's worth a play if you like the story - though it goes on a little too long - but the puzzling aspect is entirely forgettable.

This runs on ScummVM.
DISCLAIMER : My rating is not about the game itself. Curse of Monkey Island was a great game when it first got out, and it's still is. Probably the best of the Monkey Island serie, also that could be debated. SO yes, the game deserve a five stars rating. BUT... This is NOT a true port of the game. It's not a adaptation of the old windows game for modern computers. There was zero amount of extra work put into this... IT RUNS ON SCUMMVM ! ScummVM, for those who don't know, is a FREE emulator for old LucasArt games. It works just fine... But it really bother me that they SELL a game that work only thanks to a third party free software they probably didn't pay anything to include in this version, and without even GIVING CREDITS to the guys that developped ScummVM in the description of the game on the GOG page. So, Yeah, it's a great game, it works fine, but it feels wrong that they would just hide the fact that they could only release it thanks to the work of dedicated fans of LucasArts games, that have been working for free on ScummVM for years now. Especialy since ScummVM has already faced unlawfull utilisation of their software by game companies. I sincerly hope they were paid for this...

This classic game is awesome today as it was 20+ years ago. I'd rate it 5 stars, but it's disappointing to see that the release is english only. Personally I don't really care, but it would be nice to have the old multi5 dubs. I don't know if this is a case of Disney being lazy or if the dubs are gone forever, but since Grim Fandango Remastered had them... come on, find them and patch them in asap!
