You are Slade. Before the nuclear war, Special Ops commando. Now, survivor. Killing had never been your first initiative, but you were good at it... very good. And your time for killing has begun.

The road to salvation, to the Dome, is littered with the corpses of those who sought its life-giving secrets. But no one person has the technology to breach the Done. Each Zoner group has a piece of the answer. All you have to do is separate them from the information that they hold. Time to kill, or be killed.

Top Down Mayhem:
A greater field of vision allows you to implement more sophisticated attack and defense strategies. Multiplane levels surround you with enemy targets in 3D, so now you can pick off enemies both above and below you.

Non-linear territories:
There’s many different paths to victory, so rage anywhere you want within 20 freak-filled indoor and outdoor territories. Take’em on one by one or explore ahead before completing previous levels.

More enemies. Smarter Enemies:
Mutants, Mechs, Humans, Sub-Humans, Freaks, Preppies, Grunts - all with advanced AI that gives them extremely tough, individualized combat behavior.

Massive Firepower:
Disembowel with a Tachyon Cannon, light’em up with a Molotov, or cauterize with a Laser Rifle. With 21 weapons, 22 combat items, and multiple vehicles you can punish anything and everything in sight.

Adding dgVooDoo2 is easy

Look, I know GoG did not wrap this in dgVoodoo2. I can't explain that. As others have said, dgvoodoo2 is open source and I believe the author just wants credit somehwere as he's one of the OG dudes from 3Dfx. GoG obviously went their usual lazy route and bundled the game in the first wrapper they found on google that was open source. I was shocked at how only 640x480 in 8 bit color was available in the video modes when I first ran the game, yes. Then I went "oh well, I 'm going to have to do my old man thing of downloading a proper wrapper like dgvoodoo and throwing it in the game folder for them..." Sure enough, throw in the lastest dgvoodoo2 D3D DLL files right next to the game's EXE and boom; resultions up to 800x600 I believe and 16bit color depth is restored. The framerate and everything else is smoothed out too, obviously. I know googling the latest dgvoodoo release and throwing it in the game folder is a pain but it took me about an actual minute which I didn't think warranted a 1-star review. Other than that initial laziness on GoG's part, this game is pretty cool. I'm shocked I don't remember it from back in the day. Playing it for a couple hours it's definitely something I would have enjoyed. It's also from that exact 2.5D era that looks like genuine 2.5D with sprites moving on top of 3D backgrounds. Plays a lot like Loaded on PS1 with more story and RPG elements. Very fun.

A very lazy relaunch...

Hey GOG, I appreciate your effort to bring this title here, however, my praise stops there. This is a relaunch that doesn't come with your great "DirectX wrapper" , that was used in Blood Omen. Instead you packaged this relaunch with "cnc-ddraw" (This is not of your making!), and, strangely... You cut the "cnc-ddraw config" files and the "Shaders" directory, which are essential for the overall good functioning of the "cnc-ddraw". And why did you do that?! No effort was put into this relaunch, and I'm sad about that, but I'm glad I for because I didn't spend money on this stinky version. So let everyone know that this version is technically bad!

Another Raven classic.

Take No Prisoners i liked from the get-go when i first played it ca 2000. You get alot for your buck, a long campaign, an awesome CD soundtrack and a pretty varied, interesting bestiary with alot of weapons to boot! What i always found extra cool with TNP is the key bindings. TNP might be the first topdown game where you can use the mouse for turning, shooting and keyboard for the rest of the binds. WASD from the get go! The controls are wonderful and responsive which isn't usually the case for Ravens experimental titles. Pros: Long, fulfilling campaign. Cool, varied enemies. The soundtrack. The graphics have a nice balance between retro-crisp and good looking. (I love the Quake looking real-world environments). Its fun! Cons: The only one i can personally think of is you can get stuck wondering where to go, the hub system between levels: boats, subway trains, teleporters can get a bit messy. There is no central area from where you can travel elsewhere,but you memorize how to move around eventually.

Ravens best and most underrated game

So I love this game, its easily my favourite Raven Software game, and just now I've posted a comprehensive steam guide to all the weapons, levels, enemies and locations in this game so would I recommend it? HELL YEAH! I initially posted a negative review but a dev cleared up one of my major problems about the multiplayer being removed, and the fact it is reversible by deleting the dplayx.dll file so props to the rerelease team for giving us that option. I hugely appreciate that the game includes the awesome CD music now in .ogg format without the need for a CD and presumably functional looping which you can't get from a virtual CD drive. My only issue is that this version is using cnc-draw which forces the game to use the 8 bit rendering method that only goes up to 640x480. I would recommend downloading DgVoodoo2 and using that for Direct3D rendering instead. The in-game resolution will only go up to 800x600, but if you edit the user config file you can set the resolution to "D3D 1680x1050x16" which will give you a great, modern looking experience. So why do I love this game? Its a non-linear 2.5D action game with an emphasis on exploration and problem solving. It does not hold your hand, it sets you free into this post-apocalypse with a shotgun and a colourful array of enemies with plenty of satisfying weapons to use against them. It feels almost like a proto-imsim in some ways. Mechanically dense in some ways which kinda takes inspiration from the complex games of the early 90s but functionally more accessible. Also for 1997, this game has (after some tweaking and a vps tunnel) fully functional co-op multiplayer where you and 3 other players can play through the whole game from start to finish. You can even save and load the game, with each player having their positions and inventories retained! This was unheard of for that era so it was really ahead of its time. So yeah, buy this for sure. Its amazing.
