I usually don't rievie games, but I had a lot of fun playing tainted grail. I had no technical issues, the game story music and presentation were good and you can feel that the developers poured a lot of love into it.
This is a great game, however the bugs, particularly the black screen, permanant loading bugs that, at least for me, occured in the final area of the game made it unplayable. Until this is fixed I can't/wouldnt recommend this game which is a shame because it's really does deserve to have as many people as possible playing this game.
I've played version 0.65 at the time of this review.
The game itself is very fun, but it's not without its issues. In this review, I will list the Pros, Cons, and possible improvements that they game could recieve.
Pros:
Combat is incredibly fun, as enemies will anticipate when and where you're going to attack, and its not just "I'll step to the side before you hit me, but not by much.". Rather, they can, and will dodge right before you hit them, and give counterattacks. They can stun you, which is decently telegraphed, so as long as you pay attention you can avoid it. With this in mind, you have to actually pay attention to the whole battle, rather then just turning your mind off and swing. Plus, they animations look nice, and hitboxes are tight, so even if you anticipate an enemy is gonna doge your hit, you can still miss the attack.
The story is very nice and engaging, and the world itself is full of secrets, stories, npcs, and enemies, which i find to be very engaging as a whole. I'm not entirely sure how to best explain it beyond that, so I apologize to those who want to know what the story is like.
Crafting, if done correctly, can be very useful, especially with Alchemy and Cooking.
Cons:
As useful as Crafting is, it is admittedly very boring, as you just click a recipe, hold E, and craft (or if you can make multiple of the item, hold G). You can expirement with Cooking, but not with Handcrafting (its essentially just smithing) or Alchemy, which doesnt make much sense to me.
The game does seem to be very buggy, with tons of visual glitches, and loading times can take up to 5-10 minutes if you're unlucky. Some npcs dont speak when they should, textboxes will stick around longer then they should, sometimes requiring you to reload the game to remove it, as well as some other more minor issues
This is more of a personal gripe, but if you fully explore the map, then your armor and weapons will be frequently replaced, making it so you either have to choose 1
