The prologue is okay, and you get the sense of combat. Normally i only play games as Path of exile and Last Epoch. But this game seems to be very fun yet it isnt the best stylis i ever seen :-D Money worth
My first open ended fantasy experience was Skyrim. For a while I played it religiously before modding it extensively. Eventually I went on to play new things, but nothing quite captured the same essence. After waiting for a long time I was beginning to lose hope another would be made like it and wished someone wouldn't just copy it, but make an improved version. I thought it was crazy no one had taken the opportunity to target this audience. It turns out making a game like Skyrim isn't so easy.
Needless to say this game is intending to do just that. Though not perfect (no game is), I think the devs pretty much nailed it given the limited scope; and it's clear they put in a lot of effort with what is included: a mix of Skyrim, Oblivion, Elden Ring/Souls, Gothic, and probably some games I've never played. Personally I think it all comes together to form something that is worth your time and I wholeheartedly recommend you play it, if you can see past it's inevitable imperfections.
In a world where Skyrim is almost 15 years old and no new TES title in sight this game scratches the itch left behind. It's janky and unpolished but good enough for the money it costs.
My playthrough was around 50 hours and I completed most of the game as far as quests are concerned. Although few quests got softlocked due to bugs. Buy it at a discount and you'll get your moneys worth.
I have gotten so much play out of this game, clocking in at 55 hours counting while still exploring and grinding for gear upgrades.
The story is set before the board game, so if you're a fan of the board game, you NEED to play this.. If you're NOT a fan of the board game, you NEED to check that out as well. Awaken Realms did an amazing job capturing the lore and the world of Avalon in this game!
Fantasy open-world ARPG, that doesn't feel like Ubi-slop going from marker to marker, or soulslike, is a rare treat. Even rarer for it to be good. This one I now hold in 2nd highest regard after Skyrim.
It doesn't quite have Skyrim's depth and scale and crafting is kinda bad, but it absolutely surpasses it in combat and writing quality, and matches the sense of wonder in exploration.
It's hardly flawless, much like any scrolls-like it suffers from a lot of minor bugs and sequence breaks when you accidently do thing in wrong order. There are also a few plotlines that feel incomplete. But I wasn't expecting flawless game, I only wanted a good, fairly-priced scrolls-like, and that I got.
A joy to explore, fun to delve into lore, and great build variety. Not too long, which is gonna help replayability. You won't build a "master of all trades" type of character in 1 playthrough like you can Skyrim, and reroll is limited, so replayability is important for trying out different things.
