theres nearly no meat in this game, its a 2 ending affair and even the most novice can get it done is a few hours or even less
the art is very nice, and the feeling of weirdness of the place is great. However great they are, the game is just too thin on the game side of things
if you didnt get it when it was gifted so long ago, and you REALLY want it, wait for a DEEP sale, like 2 euros, 3 at most
You must set your crew to work in order to survive a crash-landing -only it's unclear why they keep dying starting almost inmediately, and if you don't follow the in-game tutorial to the letter the tutorial will stop, so you won't learn what you're supposed to do.
Bad interface -you have a panoramic view of the crash site. You can use the mouse for everything EXCEPT panning, for that you have to use the arrow keys. The game is playable but it's unnecessarily awkward. Critical info is flushed against the screen edge -if you are playing on a TV you will miss information. If you are not playing on a TV odds are the tiny fonts will be very hard to read.
You start already losing - with no food, no anything, meaning that unless you start to work right away on the right things you'll die in minutes. The game will tell you if your crew members feel "bad" -whether it's because of hunger, exhaustion or any other reason it's up to you to find out.
Did you know the proper way of heating an air-tight, electrically-lighted ship with electrically-powered plant-growing pods and food-preserving refrigerators is a lumber stove? And the proper way of getting that lumber is by manually chopping it with a toy-sized axe? These guys just deserve to die.
The difficulty levels are "Be Brave" and "Try Harder" -what that's supposed to mean is anyone's guess. "Try Harder" seems to be easier, if for some reason you still play this.
The only reason I didn't ask for a refund is because I got it for free, and even then I feel disappointed. And I feel bad for that because I got this game for free and would really like to say something nice about it but I just can't. Sorry.
I kinda liked the art style, but the icons were a bit too cryptic and could have used labels.
This feels like a really bad clone of a different game (space lumberjack!) with no one playing it before release. If you are really desperate to play something get a free demo of any other game -you'll like it more.
This game certainly achieve what it wanted. Its tense but slow , making one mistake can be fatal. Finishing the main game on the normal ( Be Brave ) wont be too hard after 2 or 3 tries, but the survival mode can put you in fail states pretty easily right at the start since it randomize the crew you start with.
The mechanics are simple, but seem wonky one purpose so its not too easy controlling all your crew and fixing/repair your ship. You can zoom in and out, but some tasks cant be done with one view or the other. There is no action at all as far as I can tell. You only try to scavenge ressource while keeping your crew healthy and fed.
I really liked the overall presentation with the sound, music and beautiful visual. The survival map is a lot creepier. The story and crew dialogue is a bit too minimal for my taste and it seem in the end you didnt really learn anything at all. Maybe there is more story if you do certain specific stuff in the main story mode or survival , but after 3 hours I think im done with the game for now.
I guess the replayability will come out of if you like the gameplay loop enough to redo runs after run and try to *complete* the survival.
Would kinda recommend for the unique experience, but it sure isnt for everyone. I got it on sale, dont regret playing it. I would like a game like this with more depth. Maybe a sequel ? ;)
What a waste of time. Such a slow, clunky and uninteresting gameplay. Please whoever did this and thought it was a good idea, it's not. God. Atrocious.
Ok I get that this is a crew survival game, however the juggle gets old very fast. There's a plot here.. somewhere but it's fractured and weak. Babysitting the crew and queuing them up inside to use a machine so they don't freeze to death when it's -80 for days on end doesn't make for riveting gameplay. The crew management SHOULD have a HUD on the screen with all the crew so they're easy to manage or find, rather than having to zoom in and out to find the crew member drop dead because you didn't have them watched constantly. Upgrading bins and machines seems to do.. something but it doesn't take away from being an unpaid babysitter. All in all, I feel that this game could have been SO much more rather than the confusing but pretty crew sim.
