Kate Walker, a young ambitious lawyer from New York, is handed what seems to be a fairly straightforward assignment. Just a quick stopover to handle the sale of an old automaton factory hidden in the alpine valleys, then straight back home to New York. Little did she imagine, when embarking on this task, that her life would be turned upside down.
On her expedition across Europe, traveling from Western Europe to the far reaches of Eastern Russia, she encounters a host of incredible individuals and locations full of extraordinary machines and an amazing atmosphere. In her attempt to track down Hans, the genius inventor - the final key to unlock the secret of Syberia - she will traverse both land and time on a journey that will throw all that she values into question, while the deal she sets out to sign turns into a life-changing experience.
Question:
Chapter 2 (University) The conversation between the couple on the ship cannot be displayed.
The brightness is really too dark, although I know that many games during this period are like this. But this uncomfortable darkness led to missing important decrypted items and causing the process to jam.
Besides, the world is really fascinating. Wonderful giant machines, mechanism people, and mysterious backgrounds.
A woman protaognizing without D.E.I nonsense.
Writen by someone that understand the meaning of coherent dialog.
That is the essence of a good old game.
I was disappointed by this game. The locations and characters are interesting. But the puzzles are mostly extremely simple, if you take care to pick up every item. The main thing you'll do is walk from A to B and back, usually several times.
For this reason Syberia is just not in the league of The Longest Journey or Grim Fandango.
I really enjoyed this game. Even stretched on a 22" 1680 monitor the backgrounds and artwork were amazing.
4 stars because I found a certain series of phone calls to be quite annoying, trite and predictable, but otherwise the game was a masterpiece.
I don't have much familiarity with adventure games of this nature. For example, there are no guns, and you cannot die. I have played one or two Nancy Drew games with my niece and I suppose those are similar.
If you want action, this game is not for you. It plays more like a mystery - puzzle novel and the pacing is relaxed but interesting. I really enjoyed it.
