Unique in that it provides a realistic Rules of Engagement system and an authentic tactical experience, SWAT 4 has gone on to inspire later games such as Cruelty Squad, Ready or Not, Rainbow Six: Siege and Doorkickers. Although overshadowed by Irrational's next big release - Bioshock - SWAT 4 has remained popular within its niche over the years due to its immersive cooperative multiplayer and compelling environmental storytelling.
SWAT: Elite Force fixes many of the game's original bugs and consolidates the vanilla and expansion campaigns into one coherent experience, while restoring cut content and adding many important modernization and Quality of Life features. The additions and changes are designed to augment the vanilla game's experience without feeling out of place. The mod is entirely open-source and has been spun off into many other community mods, and is often considered the de-facto way to play the game.

The most realistic SWAT simulator
Probably the best simulator of a SWAT operative, I constantly have a look at my team's loadouts and decide between different ammo types and less than lethal loadouts to detain suspects rather than killing them. Unfortunately, the twitchy suspects and perps always meant I have to put them down in life or death situations.

Absolute must have
The base SWAT 4 game is great, but unfortunately it has lots of bugs, quirks and odd technical limitations. Elite Force massively improves SWAT 4 in several directions without hurting the core design of the game. AI officers are smarter, enemies are less predictable, equipment choices matter more (there are also new equipment options), there are new commands and you have a bunch more options on how to approach situations. It also fixes bugs and enables functionality that was cut from the original release. It is an excellent mod. Absolute must-have, in my opinion.

Must Have
a much needed improvement. More equipment, new weapons with new caliber choices, new armor system, new gear weight system, newly added command options (Search And Secure does take a huge burden off your shoulders) . Did i mention, aiming down sights?? hadn't realised how badly i needed this while playing vanilla version. Did i mention, new maps?? Did i mention improved AI? i was tired of the whole unit being whiped out by a single suspect because they refused to open fire even if he had his weapon raised and actively shooting at them and it kept ruining the run, but with this expansion i do't feel like i have to babysit them anymore. Also, new soundtrack?? Only possible negative comment i can think of is the deploy taser option never works on either the quick command (spacebar) nor the wheel select, making is pointless assigning it to your squadmates (i always try going full pacifist so i noticed it early on) but this issue is overshadowed by the rest of the content added. Overall, very satisfied with this! i know its a 2 decade old game but some titles never die. Especially for the tactical shooter game fans.
