SWAT 4: Gold Edition

I have to agree in part with MrFoxer and some of the other more critical reviews. SWAT 4 might well be one of the better tactical shooters out there as described by several user reviews, but the AI (especially that of your fellow officers) can be frustratingly flawed at times. Sometimes they perform very well, other times terrible - and not necessarily in a realistic "people make mistakes" kind of way. Some close-in combat situations seem to cause odd and clumsy behaviour, often leading to the loss of team members. AI performance and mission outcomes will, to varying degrees, depend on sufficient planning (selection of weapons, gear, entry points), and proper tactics and leadership during the mission. Success is more likely when you adapt your tactics according to each situation - which I guess is pretty much the whole point behind the game - but I feel it could have been considerably better with proper AI.

What is good: - Magazines are real things so if you do tactical reload game rembers how many left in every magazine - You learn not to shoot and how dangerous it is to ask for voluntary disarm - Locations are full of objects and they feel like real places. Stories are told just by objects and texts on walls - You have team to guide that can help a lot - Enemies do all the things to not to help you, escape, group and even can shoot civilians - Game treats you as an adult so settings, game progress and ai tweaks are editable text files - Every mission is different even playing same level due to changing enemy locations - intel really has sense - does anybody make games like this anymore? - sometimes it is really hard to find gun dropped by suspect -> like in real life What is bad: - no iron sights and no google vision limit - sometimes ai fails to find path - sometimes ai does dumb things - did swat really use paintball gun? - some missions are very long IMHO nobody would send team of 10 people against 20 suspects and 10 civilians - elite difficulty? In most levels mean only taser and peppergun - basic version of game missses synchronized entry and melee - ai won't restrain until explicitly ordered - ai won't pickup guns

Simply coolest tactical game ever. And... great graphics, realistic weapons.

The only police game like it. Best with SEF mod, not that it needs it.

5 Of us in a room playing BF5 for a few hours till we grew bored and realised not alot of 5 player squad or co-op games out there. Well try swat I said, and everyone moaned because its old and possibly crap. Well I passed around my DRM free installer for GOG we played mission 1 and we played till around 4 in the morning. The stories this game creates are brilliant for example. We stormed a basement of a local cult, we subdue one suspect with non lethal bean bag rounds and secure him but one cultist will not put down his AK47. 5 of us surround him in torch light and yell "get down, put your hands up". but he refuses and even after pepper spray he dose not release the assault rifle. At any moment he could raise this gun and kill any of us and tensions in the pitch dark room are running high. In the torch light i gimps a silver barrel of a magnum style revolver, It presses against the mans head then... target neutralised and silence. we all look around and notice that only one of us has a silver revolver. "what?" says the owner "he had a gun, its not like we have to plant one on him". That's the beauty of this game and why it works we go from gamers who kill hundreds of players online to a bunch of guys who were shocked that we had murdered a Suspect. Turns out the cult had killed the children and buried them in the basement soooo we didn't feel too bad in the end. I've played this game solo and LAN/multiplayer and its a great game made sooo much better with friends and yes we all bought the game after an entire night of entertainment we felt it had earned the £9.99 price tag.
