Slapstick gaming

It's easy to pass this off as something like Slender: The Arrival, where it doesn't offer much that the free version doesn't, but there's more content here than you might think, if you can actually get good enough to unlock it. The entertainment comes from the sheer absurdity of it and the purposefully awful controls. Crack open the ribs with a hammer, rip out the lungs with your hands and just kind of drop them by the table. Or better yet, throw them out a moving ambulance. You can even "accidentally" prick yourself with a syringe and make everything trippy. At it's best, it's like playing a Three Stooges routine. It's also significantly funnier when you have people watching. I actually recommend it if it's on sale and you're up for something more experimental. The free version is basically a demo of the first level. Admittedly, the joke may not be worth $10.

This game is NOT to be taken seriously.

This game is absolutely hilarious! If you're expecting a realistic game that simulates what being a real surgeon is like, you're in completely the wrong place and you will hate this game. This game is a dark, sadistic joke, the controls are deliberately archaic and awkward, it's unclear what you're supposed to do in any given situation but all of that is the point of this game, the developers themselves aren't very good at playing the game. The entertainment comes with trying to perform 'surgery' in this way and failing, getting tools stuck in Bob the patient's insides, mutilating his insides and throwing them all over the place using some over the top 'tools' including a plasma cutter, giant axe and a fire extinguisher and trying to perform open heart surgery on a moving ambulance or in space among other things! And best of all, watching other peoples reactions to the game and watching them try to play it is also incredibly entertaining. That's why it's become such a big deal on popular youtube gaming channels. Maybe 10$ is a bit steep, and if human insides make you squeamish then you should stay away, but if you come into this game with the right approach knowing to expect a joke of a game with a very dark sense of humour, then you're sure to have a good time.

Know what you are getting into.

After playing this game, I have this strange feeling that my wrist is bent at an odd angle and I can't do anything about it. Also, I like to casually brush everything off my desk onto the floor and then proceed to type on my keyboard with my palm. My workmates are terribly worried about me, but I don't understand the problem. Also, I am apparently qualified to be a surgeon since I know how to use a pair of pruning shears. It's OK if I screw up, since Listerine in a syringe fixes everything. Best game ever/10.

Funny to watch, frustrating to play

I was drawn to Surgeon Simulator from stumbling on online videos. Originally, I had assumed from the rather serious title that it was an actual surgery simulator, and was interested in looking into it for my wife, who's into this sort of thing. Imagine my shock when I realized it's the exact opposite! Just do a brief search for clips from this game and you'll be treated to hilarious videos of surgeries gone horribly, hilariously wrong. So I decided to play it. The reason the surgeries are so clumsy and awkward is because it takes the player's two hands just to control the onscreen surgeon's one. The mouse controls movements, while the individual fingers are controlled by pressing five individual buttons. I get that making it difficult is the point. I get that it's supposed to be stupid, and you're supposed to look terrible. But actually playing it is like a bad dream, where twenty minutes can go by and you haven't even cut the patient open because you're still fumbling around with the buttons and dropping everything you're trying to pick up. At first, it's humorous. Then you realize it's the only point of the game, and then it quickly gets old. After about half an hour, and two botched surgeries, I had played enough for my lifetime, and I can almost guarantee I will never pick it up again. That being said, I still find myself watching the online videos every so often, making this one of the very few games that is more fun(ny) to watch than play. If you're on the fence about picking this one up, I'd at least advise you to wait for a sale: Paying $10 for what is essentially a one-trick pony seems like a waste of money to me, especially given the lack of replay value.

weirdest game ever

To start... I didn't know what to expect; I kinda hoped on a fun game, however it turned out to be a bit disappointing. In this game you'll perform surgical procedures.. or beter (brutally) murder "Bob the patient". The controls are impressively hard to master. Every surgery has NO details about the objectives or how to perform your surgery... (this is annoying when you actually want to "save" Bob) I've played this game a couple of hours, and got bored of the clumsy controls and discovering how to "murder".. I mean "successfully" complete my surgical procedure on Bob. Graphics and sounds are OK, The background music however is annoying. And then the controls... BAD The game is now on discount. To be honest, the discount price is just "fair", however, the game isn't worth buying unless you like wierd-gameplay games with the option to fail lots and lots of times.
