One big disappointment.
Short and dumb campaigning, only few units and buildings for all fractions, experimental units are to weak (a few tanks or point of defense can destroy that "class" unit). Quasi economy - practically you don't need mas extractors only some shield generators and a few point of defense plus some engineers to reclaims computer resources that left in wreaks. Simply go buy Supreme Commander 1 Gold instead...

One of my all-time favorite RTS
This was my first exposure to Supreme Commander and I immediately felt right at home with it. Borrowing a lot from Total Annihilation may be the reason for that. It has solid base-building and good balance with the maps and factions - there's plenty of resources and the battles rely on skill and planning. The campaign is solid, if not underwhelming, but the multiplayer is awesome. Grab some friends and battle it out on a good selection of maps. I never played Forged Alliance, so maybe I have nothing to compare it to and be disappointed by. However, my friends and I had a blast with this one so give it a shot.

Very different from Supreme Commander 1
I played this game expecting a bigger and better, or at least refined, version of Supreme Commander, but that is not what I got. The game takes the unfathomable move of reworking the resource system to work more like they do in traditional RTS-games, rather than the energy and metal balancing that has been present through Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. You can no longer queue units like you were able to before, paying for things piece by piece as you gather energy and metal, you instead purchase them wholesale and when you dont' have more resources, tough luck, better wait until you have them before pressing the build button. I hear that this has been reversed in a patch after some time, but I can't imagine that this would work well when the game is built around the new economy system. To me that single decision breaks the entire game, and it now feels like some corporate investors wanted to make the game "more like C&C", leaving the game feeling more generic and just lacking in soul and identity.

Play the first instead.
This game is the sequel of the deservedly acclaimed Supreme Commander 1. But it's inferior in every way (even in the story department, which is cringy and badly acted, while the first one was maybe not very inspiring but at least serviceable). Crucially, it's failing in regard of what made SupCom 1 exceptionnal, devolving from ambitious, original design into streamlined, boring and typical STR. It lacks the scale, the originality, the ambition and the complexity of SupCom. Either play Starcraft or SupCom 1, which are both far better that this failure of a sequel each in their own way.

Solid RTS game, inferior to SC1/FA
If you prefer simplified RTS experience it may be the game for you, if you like economy and base building stay with Supreme Commander 1 (wth Forged Alliance expansion), as sequel is oversimplified, you can no longer build and manage big armies.
