Unplayable

So much time has passed, and the game is still unplayable. I bought the game, installed the patches (HUGE PATCH, THE SIZE OF THE ENTIRE GAME), tried to play. Didn't pass the first level on the first try; on the bridge with gates, I encountered a soft-lock, the gates simply didn't open after throwing two corpses on the chains. On another level, I cleared the entire arena, killed all enemies, and still got a message saying I needed to kill all enemies. Pixel by pixel, I searched the entire arena and found no one. After one restart from the checkpoint, I don't even want to attempt a second, especially when I've already completed the level. The controls are unpleasant, the combat is unpleasant, no impact whatsoever. Enemies come in hordes, can't dodge the shooters, enemies with shields are unclear how to be killed, either by simple clicking or in some special way. The English voice acting is disgusting. I'm writing this review not for the developers; they won't do anything anyway, especially considering that the game was released two years ago. Unplayable. Do not recommend.

Review from a person not into Horror

So, first i am not into Horror but boredom led to curiosity and curiosity led to a purchase. I mainly tried to make myself comfortable with the controls but i am not sure yet if i like Keyboard and Mouse less than my X-Box Controller gameplay or vice versa - i probably dislike both more than i like them, i am a PC Gamer and this game feels like a clumsy Consolegame. The combat is pretty brutal but chopping of limbs and heads off is not that exclusive anymore as it was way in the past and making NPCs cry in pain...it is a cry of pain more in the thousands of them that make the background noise. The uncensored patch is avialable on the Homepage of the Developer and works with the GOG Version - no more pixelation. All in all the game is not my taste but i try to be fair and give it a 3/5 for working ok and having the decision to uncensor the game at the players discretion.

Review

I purchased this as a simple hack-n-slash. *) The first person doesn't work very well in large battles since enemies have janky movement and can apparently slide around. This makes combat more confusing than it needs to be. If they allowed switching to third person it would alleviate problem. Target hitboxes also seem to be problematic. *) Graphically it seems to be ok. It doesn't appear to be optimized as FPS drops are frequent. *) Overall the gameplay loop is similar to other arena-based hack-n-slash games. *) I noticed after the most recent patch that the halloween theme was removed from the world, but also from the hub base. Changing/Removing things like this is not acceptable. If this is a date-based switch, meaning the content is still there and is only available during that time frame then ok. But, if content was removed by the developer because of the patch then that is not ok. Removing working content at the whim of the developer is never ok. I purchased a whole product and do not agree with arbitrary decisions by developers to alter that product other than to make corrections to the product. I will refund the product. I don't tolerate devs that operate this way. 1/5. Poor camera, good graphics, bad optimization, devs removing content after purchase. Just no.

Awesome!

I've completed about 2/3 of the story and I'm having a great time with this game, but it's not for everybody. The violence and gore, the sex, the cruelty, the dirty talk, everything is over the top and the game is completely unapologetic about all of it. If you can enjoy these things, there is a lot of fun to be had here (and I think only the violence is unavoidable, everything else can be toned down, turned off, or simply avoided). The game also looks great and the combat lets you feel like a badass killing machine. I'm playing the game in fully uncensored mode, but I do appreciate that the devs added the option to remove the abortion minigames, which are orders of magnitude more extreme than the rest of the content. Making them optional even in the uncensored version tells me that the developers take user feedback seriously. The best (only?) way to get more publishers to release DRM-free games is to make it worth their while. So if you're thinking of buying this, please ignore the review-bombing and consider buying it here.

If you can approach this game with a sense of humour, it's fun. Run around hell and pull demons apart.
