I miss playing this game on the original Xbox. The console stopped working before I could finish the game though. Glad to have it on pc and it works flawlessly on GoG. No dips in framerate and everything is just how I remember it. I still find the game's jokes pretty funny at times. It's gory and cartoony and a blast to play. Thank you for bringing this to pc :)
This game is really fun, played it on OG Xbox ages ago so glad to see it released here. It is not a remaster though, so it looks as good as it did in 2005 albeit in a much higher resolution, it also comes with ultra widescreen support out of the box, which i did not expect.
This is just like the original xbox version with some very needed improvements
1: better jump height and vaulting action; you can jump higher possibly from smaller hitboxes and the vaulting action you can perform by jumping then left clicking really gets some height for the aerial brain eating
2: the health bar has changed from a hunter green color at full to more a swamp green color
3: a dedicated run button! instead of stumbling around for 5 seconds before running now it's shift-run
4: dedicated whistle button; in the original you had to stand for a few seconds then press Y, now it's Z and affects all zombies in the camera direction, this makes controlling units much easier
5: it's still a rare love story about a salesman presumably in the 1920s that died and was resurrected by young love to seek out his lost lover
the soundtrack is still there and the loading screens are gone (half-step con, they were cool back then)
overall I love the game, it's like the original but with much needed improvements
all in all: game itself is 4 out of 5, plus one star because it present george patton's speech as a rally cry for zombies to take back a quaker state farm from the man that murdered stubbs.
The game just isn't as good as I remember it being. Not sure if it's just me getting old and slow but the game didn't seem to flow the same way and the controls seemed to have more lag than I recall. Personal opinions aside, I think overall it has the same funk as the original and will take some getting use to by new players. I also recommend playing on a smaller screen to avoid pixels getting fuzzy as this is a barebones re-release vs a remake.
